Hazrat Bayazid Bastami (RA)

One day Hadhrat Bayazid Bastami rahmatullah alayhi while in meditation, saw himself in a synagogue dressed as a Jew. At first he was confused, but when he kept on seeing the same vision over and over again, he decided to enact it. So, he dressed himself as a Jew and went to their synagogue. When the Jews and their scholars were present, their chief Rabbi stood up to speak. But when he stood up, his tongue became stuck and he could not talk. After he had been standing quietly for some time, the Jews started to complain. The Rabbi said, "In this gathering there is a follower of the Prophet Muhammed (sallalahu alayhi wassalam) and I cannot speak because he has come to examine us." On hearing this, their anger raged like wildfire and they asked the Rabbi to give them permission to kill this follower of the Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wassalam). The Rabbi replied, "He cannot be killed without proof, so we must talk to him peacefully and respectfully and then we can decide." The Rabbi then said, "Oh follower of Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wassalam). For the sake of your Prophet please stand up in your place. If you can remove our doubt about Islam then we shall accept Islam, but if you can't, then we shall kill you." On hearing this, Hadhrat Bayazid rahmatullah alayhi stood up and gave permission for them to question him.

Rabbi: What is one and not two? Bayazid: Allah.

Rabbi: What is two and not three? Bayazid: Night and day. [Qur'aan chapter 17 verse 12: "And we made night and day two examples."]

Rabbi: What is three and not four? Bayazid: The Throne, Chair, and the Pen of Allah.

Rabbi: What is four and not five? Bayazid: The Torah, Bible, Psalms, and the Qur'aan.

Rabbi: What is five and not six? Bayazid: The five compulsory Prayers.

Rabbi: What is six and not seven? Bayazid: The six days in which the Earth, the sky, and whatever is in between them was created. [Qur'aan chapter 50 verse 38: "And we created the Sky and the Earth and whatever is between them in six days"]

Rabbi: What is seven and not eight? Bayazid: The seven skies. [Qur'aan chapter 67 verse 3, "Who created the seven skies layer upon layer!"]

Rabbi: What is eight and not nine? Bayazid: The bearers of the throne of Allah. [Quraan chapter 69 verse 17: "And they will lift their Lord's throne on themselves on that day, eight persons. "]

Rabbi: What is nine and not ten? Bayazid: The villagers of Hadhrat Salih peace be upon him in which the mischief mongers lived. [Qur'aan chapter 27 Verse 48: "And in that city there were nine persons who created mischief on the Earth, and they didn't amend. "]

Rabbi: What is ten and not eleven? Bayazid: The person who performs a minor pilgrimage along with the major one and doesn't have the capacity to sacrifice an animal, he has to keep ten fasts. [Qur'aan chapter 2 verse 196: "So keep the three Haj days and seven fasts when you return".]Rabbi: What is eleven, twelve and thirteen things which Allah has mentioned? Bayazid: Hadhrat Yusuf had eleven brothers. The twelve months in a yea., [Qur'aan chapter 9 verse 36: "The number of months, with Allah , is twelve months".]Hadhrat Yusuf saw thirteen things prostrating to him. [Qur'aan chapter 12 verse 4: "I saw in a dream eleven stars, the sun and the moon, I saw them (for my sake) prostrating (to me)".]

Rabbi: Which is that nation which lied and went in to paradise and which is that nation which said the truth and entered hell? Bayazid: Hadhrat Yusuf's brothers lied but they went to paradise. [Qur'aan chapter 12 verse 17: "Oh father! We went out to run and we left Yusuf with our belongings, then he was eaten by the wolf."]The contradiction between the Christians and the Jews was true but they went to hell. [Qur'aan chapter 2 verse 113: "And the Jews said that the Christians are not on any path, and the Christians said that the Jews are not on any path, even though they all read the book."]

Rabbi: What is the meaning of Qur'aan chapter 51 verse 1-4: By the ships that scatter broadcast; And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; And those that flow with ease and gentleness;And those that distribute and apportion by Command?Bayazid: The meaning of flying scattered ships is air, the meaning of weight carrying ships is water filled clouds, the meaning of calmly sailing ships is boats, and the meaning of the last is the angels which distribute the sustenance.

Rabbi: What is that thing which has no soul nor any connection with breathing, yet it breathes? Bayazid: It is the dawn, for it has no soul but it still breathes. [Qur'aan Chapter 81 verse 18: "And the morning, when it breathes."]

Rabbi: What are those fourteen things to which Allah talks with honour? Bayazid: The seven earths and the seven skies, [Qur’aan chapter 41 verse 11: Then He said to it and to the Earth, come both of you with happiness or hardly, They said we will come happily.]

Rabbi: Which is that grave which moves the person in it around? Bayazid: The fish of Hadhrat Yunus alayhi salaam. [Qur'aan chapter 37 verse 142: "Then the fish took him as a morsel".]Rabbi: Which is that water which neither came up from the earth nor down from the sky? Bayazid: The water which Hadhrat Sulaiman alayhi salaam sent to Bilqis, Queen of Sheeba, for it was the sweat of a horse.

Rabbi: What are those four things which had no father nor were born from a mother’s stomach? Bayazid: The sheep of Hadhrat Ismail, the she camel of Hadhrat Salih, Hadhrat Adam and our mother Eve alayhi salaam.

Rabbi: Whose blood flowed first on the Earth? Bayazid: It was Habil's (Abel) when Qabil (Cain) killed him.

Rabbi: What is that thing which Allah created and then bought? Bayazid: A believers soul. [Qur'aan chapter 9 verse 11: "Allah bought from the Muslim's their souls."]

Rabbi: What is that voice which Allah created and then spoke ill of? Bayazid: The donkey’s voice. [Qur'aan chapter 31 verse 19: "Without doubt the worse voice is of a donkey."]

Rabbi: What is that creation that Allah created and from it’s greatness created fear? Bayazid: Women's scheming. [Qur'aan chapter 12 verse 28: "Truly, mighty is your scheming."

Rabbi: What is that thing that Allah created and then asked about? Bayazid: The staff of Hadhrat Musa.[Qur'aan Chapter 20 verse 17: "And what is that in your right hand, Oh Musa? He said "This is my staff."]

Rabbi: Who are the most pious of the women and what are the blessed rivers? Bayazid: The most pious women are Hadhrat Eve, Hadhrat Khadija, Hazart Aisha and Hadhrat Fatima. The most blessed rivers are the Oxus, Simwon, Tigris, Euphrates and Nile.

Rabbi: Which is the most blessed mountain and the most blessed animal? Bayazid: Mount Toor in Makkah and the horse. Rabbi: Which is the best of all months and the best of all nights? Bayazid: The month of Ramdhan and the Night of Power. [Qur'aan Chapter 2 verse 185: "The month of Ramdhan in which the Qur'aan was revealed."Qur'aan chapter 97 verse 3: "The night of power is better than a thousand months."]

Rabbi: There is a tree which has twelve twigs, each twig has thirty leaves, and each leaf has five fruits, two in the sun and three in the shade. What is the meaning of this tree? Bayazid: The tree means one year, the twigs mean the twelve months, the leaves represent the thirty days, and the fruits are the daily prayers, two of which are prayed in the day and the remaining three which are prayed at dawn, at dusk, and in the night time.

Rabbi: What is that thing that circled around the Ka'abah in Makkah even though it had no soul? Bayazid: The boat of Hadhrat Nuh alayhi salaam. In the time of the flood it arrived in Arabia and circled around the Ka'abah.

Rabbi: How many prophets did Allah send as Messengers? Bayazid: Only Allah knows, but in narrations it is said that Allah created 126,000 prophets from which 313 were Messengers. Rabbi: What are those four things whose roots are one but their colours and tastes are different? Bayazid: Eyes, ears, mouth and nose. The wetness of the eye are sour, the wetness of the ears is acid, that of the noses is also acid and the wetness of the mouth is sweet.

Rabbi: What is the voice of the donkey called? Bayazid: It is the curse on the tax takers. Rabbi: What is the voice of the dog called? Bayazid: Doom on the dwellers of Hell by the anger of Allah. Rabbi: What is the remembrance of the ox? Bayazid: SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi, subhanAllah il adheem.

Rabbi: What is the remembrance of the camel? Bayazid: HasbunAllahu wa ni’mal wakeel.

Rabbi: What is the remembrance of the peacock? Bayazid: Huwal wadud, dhul ‘arsh il-adheem. Rabbi: What is the beautiful recitation of the nightingale? Bayazid: So remember the pure Allah when it is morning and evening.

Rabbi: What is that thing which Allah sent revelation on, but it was not human, Jinn or Angel? Bayazid: The honey bee. [Qur'aan chapter 16 verse 68: "And your lord gave order to the honey bee."]

After this the Rabbi couldn't ask any more questions and became quiet. Hadhrat Bayazid rahmatullah alayhi said, "Now you give me the answer to my one question. What is the key to paradise?" The Rabbi replied, "If I give the answer to this question, this gathering will kill me." The gathering shouted in one voice "We shall not do anything. Now tell us the true answer!" The Rabbi then said, "Listen! the key to paradise is: There is no God worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad peace be upon him is His Messenger!" On hearing this the whole gathering accepted Islam and Hadhrat Bayazid rahmatullah alayhi returned giving thanks to Allah.

Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah

Imam Abu Hanifah Numan bin Thabit al-Kharraz, may Allah he pleased with him, had a firm footing in shariat and a high status in tariqat. To begin with, he loved solitude and wanted to renounce the world and live a life of seclusion so as to keep away from the contamination of power and position, and position, and be fully devoted to God Almighty. However, he gave up that idea when he had a dream in which he saw himself sorting out the bones of Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) in his grave, and was giving preference to some of them over the others.He went to one of the disciples of Muhammad bin Sirrin (who was well-versed in interpreting dreams) and asking the meaning of that dream. He said, "You will reach a position in the knowledge of Hadith when you will be able to judge Hadith properly and distinguish the correct sayings from the fake ones."In another dream the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) said to him, "O Abu Hanifah, you have been created to revive my sunnah. Do not take to solitude." Imam Abu Hanifah was the teacher of some of the great mashaikhs like Ibrahim bin Adham, Fudhail bin Ayadh, Daud Tai, Bishr Hafi, etc.,It is related in the chronicles that once Emperor Mansur planned to select a qadhi (chief justice) out of the following four persons, Imam Abu Hanifah, Sufyan Thauri, Mu'sar Sallah bin Ashim & Qadhi Sharih, all of whom were great scholars in Islamic learning. Consequently, they were summoned to the court. While going to the emperor, Imam Abu Hanifah told his companions that he had a plan for each of them. They said "What is that ?" He said, "I will try to get rid of the offer on some pretext; Mu'sar should pretend madness; Sufyan should flee; and Shariah should accept the offer. Accordingly Sufyan escaped by crossing the river using a boat & disappeared. The remaining three persons were brought before the emperor.First he addressed Imam Abu Hanaifah & told him that he wanted to appoint him as the qadhi of the empire. The Imam said, "O Amir al-Mu'minin as I am a non-Arab, and a slave too, the Arab chiefs will not be inclined to accept my decision." The emperor said, "It is not race, but knowledge & competence which counts in this matter." Abu Hanifah said, "But I am not competent for the job." The emperor said, "I know you are competent." Abu Hanifahreplied, "It means I am telling a lie, in which case too I am not fit for the post, because a liar cannot be fit to be a qadhi. So, in both cases I am not fit for the job. You are a caliph of God. You should not appoint a liar to such a high post." In this way he succeeded in getting rid of the job. Now came the turn of Mu'sar. He took the hand of the Caliph and said "How are you ? And how are your children ? How are your animals ?" Seeing this the Caliph exclaimed, "He is mad, take him away." Then he asked Sharih to accept the job. He said, "I am also mentally imbalanced and short of memory." The Caliph said, "Never mind, you will be alright by treatment." Thus, he was appointed as the qadhi of the Empire.This was how Imam Abu Hanifah succeeded in avoiding the post. Henceforward he never met Sharih and kept himself away from him. This story bears testimony to his greatness from two points of view. Firstly, his wisdom to understand what he and his companions had to do and secondly, his contentment and love for solitude in which he found safety of faith. Incidentally, the cult of self reproach (malamat) also stands proven by the behavior of these scholars who had to make a show of weakness & feign imperfection on their part to avoid worldly honor & dignity, which they feared would harm them spiritually, while the pretenders do just the opposite. Being slaves of greed they worship the rich and powerful, lick their shoes, take their palaces as qiblat & their thresholds as Qaba Qausain.Once a pretender in Ghazni who feigned to profess malamat, said that the wearing of the muraqqah was bidat (heretical). I said to him, "You feel no hesitation in wearing the robes of silk which are definitely harm (forbidden) in Islam and that too you beg from the tyrannical & wicked people who amass wealth through unlawful means. had you not been overpowered by arrogance and vice, you would not have said this. Silk dresses are lawful for females but not for males. It is certainly unbecoming on your part to wear silk & condemn the patched garment obtained by lawful means."Imam Abu Hanifah says, "When Noufil bin Hayan died, I saw in dream in which mankind was busy submitting accounts on the Day of Judgment. I saw the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) standing at the edge of a pool of water with many mashikhs on his right and left. There was a handsome old man with grey hair standing nearest to the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) with his bright face almost touching the Prophet Mohammad's (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) face. Noufil bin Hayan was also there. When he saw me he came close to me and greeted me with salaam. I asked him to give me some water. He said that he would ask the Prophet Mohammad's(Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) permission first. As soon as he said this, the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) raised his finger as a token of approval and he gave us a vessel full of water which the companions and I drank to our fill. However, the vessel remained as full as before. I asked Noufil who was tht venerable personage on the Prophet Mohammad's (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) right. He said it was the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and on his left was Hadhrat Abu Bakr As Siddiq (Radhiyallaho anho). He went on introducing the mashaikhs to me and I went on counting them on my fingers. the last number being seventeen. When I woke up I still had my finger on number seventeen."Yahya bin Muadh Razi said, "I saw the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) in a dream and said to him, 'Where can I find you.' He said, 'In the knowledge of Abu Hanifah.' " Imam Abu Hanifah's merits and virtues are too many to be described.Once when I, li Uthmanwas staying at the tomb of Hadhrat Bilal(Companion of Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam)) in Damascus, I saw in dream that I was in Makkah. I saw the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam), entering the Shirne of Ka'bah through the Gate of Bani Shiba carrying as old man as one carries a child on one's bosom. I ardently ran to the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) and kissed his feet. I was wondering who the old man was. Reading my mind the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) said "He is your Imam & the Imam of your country, Abu Hanifah." My countrymen and I are indeed lucky to have that honor. This dream is enough to confirm that Imam Abu Hanifah was fani-us-siffat by himself & baqi-us-siffat with the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) by virtue of the fact that the Prophet Mohammad(Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) lifted him to his bosom. Had he been walking on his own feet he would not have been fani by himself, instead he would have been baqi with himself. Know that what is verified by the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) himself cannot be questioned.It is said that when Daud Tai had learned all the Islamic sciences and became a great scholar he went to Imam Abu Hanifah and said, "What should I do next ?" The Imam replied, "Alaik bil amal fa innal ilma bila amal kal jasdu bila rab" (Bring your knowledge (ilm) into practice, since knowledge without practice is like a body without soul). If knowledge is not followed by practice it is meaningless. He who is contented with knowledge alone is not an alim (man of knowledge) in the real sense of the word. It is like true guidance which is not possible without struggle (devotion), or like mushahadah (unity with God) which is not possible without mujahaidah (devotion). Therefore, knowledge is a necessary complement of action & no knowledge is complete without action. It is like the light of the sun which cannot be separated from the sun. I have already explained the benefits of knowledge earlier.

Asiya (ra) The Wife of Pharaoh

And Allah has set forth an example for those who believe, the wife of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), when she said: "My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise, and save me from Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his work, and save me from the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in Allah). [66:11] Asiya (ra) was the wife of Pharaoh and she is a real life example for the believers of today on how we should deal with the bush and blair of our times. Allah (swt) made her an example and symbol of the deen for the women. For anyone wanting to seek guidance and follow the Sunnah this is an excellent example. She had maturity and understanding in the deen desiring only the akhirah. She said I do not want anything in the dunya I want to be near to you Oh my Lord by having a house in Jannah. Whenever we look for house in the dunya we check the neighbours to see if they are good in order to make our decision on taking the house, yet Asiya (ra) said to Allah (swt) that I want your neighbourhood in jannah. Asiya (ra) said that I came out from obedience to Pharaoh, usually it is forbidden to disobey the husband but for her to do so was qurba ilallah (to become closer to Allah). Even though she benefited so much by being with him in terms of living such a luxurious life she left all of it and she rejected to live in his palace or to have his servants for the sake of Allah (swt). She said to Pharaoh; I will not accept to live with you, she said; Oh enemy of Allah I am free from you and anything that you did before and I reject you, you see from me nothing but plotting to kill you and complete animosity towards you. He said to her; stop saying it otherwise you will be deported. Ibn Abbas (ra) said that she ran away in order to seek the guidance of Allah (swt). He had her arrested and tortured for 3 days burning her body and yet she continued to say I reject you and do not want anything to do with you. Where then is the wife of today who will account her husband like this? To tell her husband that he is an apostate if he does not pray or commits shirk by voting, joining the army, police, MCB etc. Where is the wife who rejects her husband to commit haram and kufr even if it means leaving him? The Messenger Muhammad (saw) informed us about her as being one of the women of jannah that has been testified to. The wife will get the reward in helping her husband and in fulfilling her own duties, yet what about her duties for the deen and her role to rear the future generation of Muslims? The Muslim sisters should be daaiyah (callers to Islam) and muraabiyah – nurturing the body and soul/personality of the children. The mother is the school for the children. The mother of Imam Shafi, Abu Hanifah, Malik and Ahmad all had mothers who made them what they were. Imam Shafi was born after his father passed away he only had his mother and she guaranteed that her child would be educated with the relevant ilm. Imam Shafi became the imam of Quraysh who the prophet (saw) informed us about (i.e. that there will be from Makkah an Imam from Quraysh). Imam Abu Hanifah was known as Imam al-A’zam and all the people agree that the one prophesised about to be from Khurasaan and very high in ilm was him. His father went to Iraq in order to trade but it was the mother who made him what he was and she was the one caring about his education. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal would refuse his child to be breast fed by any bad person, once he saw his child being breast fed by this woman so he took back the child and put his fingers down his throat for him to regurgitate the milk that he had suckled. This is because of the genes that you inherit from the DNA of the milk from the woman. The prophet (saw) said be careful of the irq which is the DNA that is passed on via breast feeding. When the child is suckling the milk of the mother will build a link with the child. That is why the hadith says that you should chose your wife on the basis of her deen as this is the right your children have over you and will be best for them. In order to teach her children the mother must herself learn ilm and aspire seek knowledge.Once upon a time there was a man well known called Farrukh who wanted to go to jihad from the age of 14 up until the age of 20. It was up to the khaleefah to choose the people as offensive jihad is fard kifayyah. On the age of 20 he got married and 3-4 weeks after he got married the call for jihad came to him, it was reported that less than 2 months of him getting married he was called to go out and fight. He told his wife that I have been trying for this for years and now it has come up, are you going to help me and support me to go or are you going to be an obstacle in my way? She said I will support you but I am pregnant, he said I will go and if I am victorious I will return with booty and if not then I will become shaheed, he said this is 30 000 dinars - all my savings take it and keep it. She was obedient and said that I rely on Allah (swt) hasbunallah wa ni’mal wakeel. In the time of Omar (ra) he was asked how long after the husband has gone away from his wife is it before it invalidates the nikkah, he adopted 4 months, this is why every 4 months the people who were fighting in the army would be sent back home to renew the time limit. Farrukh went and it was 30 years before he came back, the whole of Madinah had changed, he came there seeing all new people yet when he went to his house it was as he left it. He entered the house and saw a man in his house, the man said how dare you enter into my home without knocking, he said what are you doing in my home? They began to fight, the wife looked and recognised him and said it is Farrukh! She told him that the one you are fighting with is your son, so they embraced each other. He said I have booty and added an extra 15000 dinars. She said to Farrukh make ghusl and rest, so he did after which he went to the masjid of Baghdad (at time of Abu Hanifah) where there used to be a majlis and the one doing the bayaan was Rabeea’ tul Raie’, Farrukh asked someone who is this man? So they told him, he asked about him and who he was? They said his father is called Farrukh and left for Jihad many years ago. Upon hearing this he felt so happy and could not contain his happiness. He went back to his wife and said what did you call my son? She said Rabeea’ tul Raie’ he said the one giving the majlis? She said; yes. She said that the money you left I used it to send him from alim to alim in order for him to learn the deen. She said that I heard the single mother who does not marry for the sake of her children she will enter with the prophets into jannah and therefore I never did so. These are the sort of examples that we need to follow and learn from. The mother of Imam Abu Hanfiah would go with him to Abu Zarrah to ask him ahkaam and he would go to him to ask. She would teach him that we only ask ilm from the ulama yet even though Abu Zarrah himself would ask Abu Hanifah for the answers. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal’s mother used to say that if I worked day and night washing peoples clothes or cleaning peoples floors in order to get money to teach my son the Quran I will never stop working day and night.Imam Malik’s mother was the wife of Anas bin Malik, they asked Anas bin Malik are there any sahabah left in your time he said from the Bedouins there are many (meaning he was of the last of the companions). His mother was a sahabiyyah and would wake up in the night and say to Imam Malik let us memorise the quran. The muslimah today should look to the kafirah and see how you differ from her if you do not differ in any way then there is a problem and you need to change yourself. The mother will never allow her child to go the kufr schools and to learn their kufr education, this is the biggest mistake and betrayal for the child. The mother is the one that ensures her children are brought up with the correct understanding and are educated in the deen. The kafirah does not cover, she dazzles herself, she does not pray or fast, she works whilst free mixing with men. The muslimah on the other hand is muwwahidah and does not leave her home except without permit, she wears khimar and jilbab and even niqab in fitna, she looks after children, does not free mix, does not soften her voice when speaking with other men, honours her family etc. What makes a women a good wife:
Her family (education)
The society she learnt from (schooling)
Her husbandThe role of the husband comes into play especially when the first two things fail. If he is kind to her and good to her he can mould her to be a great woman by teaching her. The good husband is one who cares about the wife, fulfils his duties and makes sure she does hers, remembering that she is the mother of his children. The prophet (saw) said if you look after them and be good with them they will listen to you. If you educate her properly she will blossom to become a good woman, the wife is the outcome of what you plant and rear/look after. The hadith says teach your wife the chapter of Nuh, Nisa and Noor, these surahs are the biggest in terms of fiqh. If your husband is taghoot he must be rejected and the wife is obliged to leave him otherwise she will also take the same rule, learn from the example of Asiya (ra) who left and up rose against her husband who was taghout.

Forbidden categories for marriage in Islam

a) ( Do Not Marry Idol Worshipers) [2:221] Do not marry idolatresses unless they believe; a believing woman is better than an idolatress, even if you like her. Nor shall you give your daughters in marriage to idolatrous men, unless they believe. A believing man is better than an idolater, even if you like him. These invite to Hell, while ALLAH invites to Paradise and forgiveness, as He wills. He clarifies His revelations for the people, that they may take heed.
(b) (Respect for the Father) [4:22] Do not marry the women who were previously married to your fathers - existing marriages are exempted and shall not be broken - for it is a gross offense, and an abominable act.
(c) (Incest Forbidden) [4:23] Prohibited for you (in marriage) are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, the sisters of your fathers, the sisters of your mothers, the daughters of your brother, the daughters of your sister, your nursing mothers, the girls who nursed from the same woman as you, the mothers of your wives, the daughters of your wives with whom you have consummated the marriage - if the marriage has not been consummated, you may marry the daughter. Also prohibited for you are the women who were married to your genetic sons. Also, you shall not be married to two sisters at the same time - but do not break up existing marriages. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
(d) [4:24] Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you. These are ALLAH's commandments to you. All other categories are permitted for you in marriage, so long as you pay them their due dowries. You shall maintain your morality, by not committing adultery. Thus, whoever you like among them, you shall pay them the dowry decreed for them. You commit no error by mutually agreeing to any adjustments to the dowry. ALLAH is Omniscient, Most Wise.
(e) [24:3] The adulterer will end up marrying an adulteress or an idol worshiper, and the adulteress will end up marrying an adulterer or an idol worshiper. This is prohibited for the believers.
(f) [33:52] Beyond the categories described to you, you are enjoined from marrying any other women, nor can you substitute a new wife (from the prohibited categories), no matter how much you admire their beauty. You must be content with those already made lawful to you. ALLAH is watchful over all things. (See also 33:50-53).

Islamic Manners

1. It is mustahab to remove the hair of the pubic region and the armpits once a week. If one does not remove these hairs weekly, one should at least remove them every fortnight. If one cannot even do this, one should remove them before forty days. If a person leaves these hairs for more than forty days, he will be sinning.
2. It is makruh for women to call their husbands and parents by name as this shows disrespect. However, certain occasions may demand that they be called by name. In such circumstances it will be permissible to call both the husband and parents by name. Under all conditions and in all circumstances, one should always be mindful of being respectful to one's husband and parents.
3. It is not permissible to burn any living creature, e.g. it is not permissible to smoke bees in order to get rid of them. It is also not permissible to catch bugs, flies, mosquitoes, etc. and to throw them into a fire. However, if there is no other way of getting rid of them, it will be permissible to do so, e.g. at times it is difficult to get rid of bees. In such a case, it will be permissible to smoke them. It will also be permissible to get rid of bed-bugs by pouring boiling water on the bed if there is no other way of getting rid of them.
4. It is not permissible to take bets, e.g. a person says: "If you eat a full kilo of sweets, I will give you R1. But if you cannot do that, you will have to give me R1." In other words, it is not permissible to take two-sided bets. However, one-sided bets are permissible.
5. When two persons are talking in privacy, one should not go and sit near them. It is a major sin to try and listen to their conversation. It is mentioned in a Hadith that on the day of judgement, boiling lead will be poured into the ears of the person who tries to listen to the private conversation of others despite their disapproval. We learn from this that it is a major sin to spy on the bride and bride groom or to try and listen to their private conversation.
6. It is not permissible for the wife to discuss or announce the private affairs and conversations that transpired between herself and her husband. It is mentioned in a Hadith that Allah Ta'ala becomes extremely angry when a person discusses or mentions all that transpired between him and his wife.
7. It is not permissible to joke with a person to such an extent that he feels insulted or angered by the joke. One should only joke to the extent that the other person laughs and is amused.
8. It is not permissible to wish for death or to curse oneself when afflicted by any problem or calamity.
9. It is not permissible to play dice games, cards, etc. If these are played for money, they will be regarded as gambling and will therefore be absolutely haraam.
10. Once boys reach the age of ten, they should not be allowed to sleep or lie down next to their sisters, brothers or mothers. Once girls reach the age of ten, they should not be allowed to sleep or lie down next to their brothers and fathers. However, the son can sleep next to his father and the daughter can sleep next to her mother.
11. When a person sneezes, he should say Alhamdolillah. It will be wajib on the person who hears him saying Alhamdolillah to say Yarhamu kumullah. If the latter person does not say this, he will be sinful. Upon hearing this reply, the person who sneezed should say Yaghfirullahu lanaa wa lakum. However, it is not wajib, but mustahab on the person who sneezed to give this reply.
12. After sneezing, a person said Alhamdolillah which was heard by several persons. It will not be wajib on all of them to give a reply to it. If one of them gives a reply, it will be sufficient. However, if none of them gives a reply, all will be sinful.
13. If a person sneezes continuously, it will be wajib to say Yarhamu kumullah up to three times and not more.
14. When a person mentions the name of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, hears it or reads it, it becomes wajib upon him to send salutations to Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The person will be sinning if he does not do so. But if his name is mentioned several times, it will not be wajib to recite the durood each time. It will be sufficient to recite it once. But if a person moves from his place and takes his name or hears it again, it will be wajib to recite the durood again.
15. It is not permissible to shave the head of a child in such a way that a certain portion is entirely bald and another portion is left long. Either shave the entire head bald or leave all the hair unshaven.
16. It is not permissible for women to apply perfumes or any other fragrant creams, lotions, etc. in such a way that ghayr mahrams get the smell of the fragrance.
17. It is not permissible to give clothing which is not permissible to wear, e.g. it is not permissible for the husband to purchase clothing that is not permissible for his wife to wear. Similarly, it is not permissible for a tailor or dressmaker to sew clothing which is not permissible for Muslims to wear.
18. It is not permissible to read short stories, novels, novels based on love and beauty which are of a fictitious nature. It is also not permissible to look at books and magazines that have pictures of men and women in shameless clothing or no clothing at all. Books containing love poems should also be abstained from. Books and magazines of this sort should not even be purchased. If they are found in the possession of one's children, they should be burnt.
19. The custom of making salaam, shaking hands, embracing each other is also sunnah for women. Women should adopt these Islamic customs among themselves.
20. If a person is a guest at someone's house, he should not give any food or anything else to a beggar from his host's house without the permission of the latter.

CLOTHING AND PURDAH

1. It is not permissible to adorn boys with bracelets, necklaces, and other types of jewellery. Nor is it permissible to make them wear silk. It is also not permissible to make them wear amulets (ta'wiz) that are wrapped in silk, gold or silver. It is not permissible for them to wear clothing that has been dyed with safflower or saffron. In short, whatever is not permissible for men, should not be worn by young boys as well. If the woof is made of yarn and the warp is made of silk, it will be permissible to make them wear such clothing. Similarly, if the fur of velvet is not made of silk, it will be permissible to wear it. Such clothing can be worn by men as well. If the border of the garment is of silk, it will be permissible to make boys wear such clothing as long as the border is not more than four fingers in width.
2. A hat or any other garment which has gold or silver embroidery work done on it will only be permissible for boys if the embroidery is not very dense. If the embroidery is so dense that only the embroidery and not the cloth is visible from a distance, then it is not permissible to make boys wear such garments. Similar is the case with silk embroidery. If it is very dense, it will not be permissible to make boys wear it.
3. There is no difference in remaining naked and wearing very flimsy clothing such as muslin, lace, and other similar fabrics with which lingerie is made. It is mentioned in the Hadith that women who wear such flimsy clothing will be regarded as naked on the day of judgement. It will be more deplorable if the dress and head gear are both made of such flimsy fabric.
4. It is not permissible for women to adopt the dress and appearance of men, nor is it permissible for men to adopt the dress and appearance of women. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has cursed such men and women.
5. It is permissible for women to wear jewellery. However, it is preferable not to wear too much of jewellery. A woman who wears very little jewellery in this world will be given a lot of jewellery in the hereafter. It is not permissible to wear tinkling jewellery such as those that are worn around the ankles. It is not permissible for little girls to wear such jewellery as well. It is also permissible to wear jewellery that is made with anything other than gold or silver. For example, it is permissible to wear jewellery that is made with brass, gilt, tin, etc. However, rings that are made of anything other than gold or silver are not permissible.
6. Women are ordered to cover their bodies from head to toe. It is not permissible for them to expose their bodies to ghayr mahrams. However, it is permissible for an old woman to expose her face, palms, and feet below the ankles. It is not permissible for her to expose the rest of her body. At times the head covering falls off slightly and she goes in the presence of ghayr mahrams in this way. This is not permissible. Not a single strand of hair should be exposed in the presence of ghayr mahrams. In fact, the hair that falls off her head while combing her hair, and the nails which she has clipped should be left in such a place where ghayr mahrams will not be able to see them. If a woman is not cautious in this regard, she will be sinful. Similarly, it is not permissible for a woman to allow any part of her body to touch any part of a man's body. This rule applies to men as well.
7. It is not permissible for a young woman to expose her face in the presence of ghayr mahrams, nor should she stand in a place where she could be observed. We learn from this, that the custom of exposing the bride's face in public where all the men can observe her is also not permissible. To do so is a major sin.
8. If a woman's face, head, chest, arm or calf gets exposed in front of her mahram, there will be no sin on her. However, her stomach, back, and thighs cannot be exposed in front of her mahram as well.
9. It is not permissible for a woman to expose her body from her navel till below her knees even before another woman. Some women bath naked in the presence of other women. This is a very shameless and forbidden act. It is also forbidden to force a woman to expose her body and to bathe her on the ceremonies that are held on the sixth day after child birth, and the fortieth day after child birth. Under no condition should she expose her body from her navel till below the knees.
10. If there is a dire need, it will be permissible to expose that part of the body which is necessary to expose. For example, if a woman has a boil on her thigh, it will be permissible for her to expose just that area where the boil is situated. Under no condition should she expose more than that area. This could be done by wearing a very old pants or sheet and cutting that area of the pants where the boil is situated. The doctor can then inspect that area. However, it is not permissible to show that area to anyone other than the doctor. This is irrespective of whether the person is a male or a female. But if this boil or wound is not in the area between the navel and below the knees, it will be permissible to expose it to another woman. In the same way, at the time of some inspection, it will only be permissible to expose that part which is necessary. The same rule applies to a mid-wife. That is, at the time of need it will be permissible to expose the body to her, but it will not be permissible to expose more than what is necessary. During child birth or at the time of taking some medicine, it will not be permissible to expose more than what is necessary. It is not permissible for a woman to be completely naked. The method of doing this is to wrap a sheet around the body and whenever the need arises, the woman could open the sheet for the mid-wife. The thighs and private parts should not be exposed. Apart from the mid-wife, it is not permissible for anyone else to see her body. To be completely naked and to sit or lie down in the presence of all the other women is absolutely haraam. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Allah's curse is on the one who looks at the satr of another person, and the one who exposes her satr to others." One has to be very cautious with regard to mas'alas of this nature.
11. During pregnancy, if the mid-wife wishes to inspect the stomach, it will not be permissible for the woman to expose her body below her navel. She should cover herself with a sheet or any other covering. It is not permissible to unnecessarily expose the area below the navel even to a mid-wife. The custom of exposing this area to the mid-wife when she is carrying out her inspection, and exposing it to one's house members; is not permissible.
12. It is not permissible to touch those parts of the body which one cannot even look at. The parts of a woman's body which cannot be looked at, cannot be touched by others as well. Therefore, it is not permissible for a masseuse (female who massages) to massage the thighs, etc. even if she inserts her hands beneath the clothing whilst massaging. However, if she wears a glove and massages the thighs by inserting her hand beneath the clothing, it will be permissible.
13. It is wajib to make purdah with the kaafir women who come into one's home. This also applies to maids and domestic servants who are not Muslims. The purdah that has to be made with them is the same as that which has to be made with ghayr mahram males. The exception is that the face, wrists, and feet can be exposed to them. The head should also be covered. Remember this rule very well because the majority of women do not act according to the rules laid down by the Shariah in this regard. In other words, do not expose the head, the entire hands and the calves in front of them. It should also be remembered that if the mid-wife is a kaafir, then at the time of delivery, it will be permissible to expose the private parts. However, it will not be permissible for her to look at the other parts of the body. (Because there is no need for her to do so)
14. It is permissible for a woman to expose her entire body to her husband. It is also permissible for the husband to expose his entire body to his wife. However, it is not good to do so unnecessarily.
15. Just as it is not permissible for a woman to appear in the presence of a man or to expose her body in front of him, it is also not permissible for a woman to look at a man. Some women are under the misconception that although it is not permissible for men to look at them, it is permissible for them to look at men. This is absolutely wrong. To stand at the door way and look at men, to look at them from an elevated place, to come in the presence of the bride-groom, etc. are all not permissible.
16. It is not permissible to sit or lie down with a ghayr mahram in solitude or in private. Even if both man and woman are sitting separately at a distance, it will not be permissible to do so in private.
17. Just as it is not permissible to expose oneself in the presence of a ghayr mahram male, it is also not permissible to expose oneself in the presence of one's spiritual guide. Similarly, an adopted son is regarded as a ghayr mahram. By adopting him, he does not become one's real son. Purdah will have to be made with him just as purdah is made with a ghayr mahram male. Purdah will also have to be observed with all one's ghayr mahram relatives. These include, the husband's younger and elder brothers, sister's husband, husband of the husband's sister, and also one's cousins irrespective of whether they are the children of one's maternal or paternal uncles and aunts.
18. It is not permissible for women to come in the presence of hermaphrodites, castrated persons, and even blind persons.
19. Some women offer their hands to bangle-vendors (and jewellers) so that they may pass the bangles through their hands. This is a shameless and prohibited act.

A traveler once came to the Masjid to see the Prophet [PBUH]. After greeting the Prophet [PBUH] he was asked where he was from. The traveler replied that he came from very far just to get a few questions answered. Following is the dialogue between the traveler and the Prophet [PBUH]
Traveler: I do not want adhaab (AZAAB/GUNNAH) to be written in my account.
Prophet [PBUH] : Behave well with your parents
Traveler: I want to be known amongst people as an intelligent person.
Prophet [PBUH] : Fear Allah always
Traveler: I want to be counted amongst Allah's favorites.
Prophet [PBUH]: Recite Qur'an every morning and evening
Traveler: I want my heart to always be enlightened. (Roshan and Munawer)
Prophet [PBUH] : Never forget death
Traveler: I never want to be away from Allah's blessing.
Prophet [PBUH]: Always treat fellow creatures well
Traveler: I never want to be harmed by my enemies.
Prophet [PBUH]: Always have faith in only Allah
Traveler: I never want to be humiliated.
Prophet [PBUH] : Be careful of your actions
Traveler: I wish to live long.
Prophet [PBUH]: Always do sile rahm. (Goodness towards blood relations)
Traveler: I want my sustenance to increase.
Prophet [PBUH]: Always be in Wudhoo
Traveler: I wish to stay free of Adhaab (AZAAB-E-QABR) in the grave.
Prophet [PBUH] : Always wear pure (Paak) clothes
Traveler: I never want to burn in hell.
Prophet [PBUH]: Control your eyes and tongue
Traveler: How do I get my sins forgiven?
Prophet [PBUH]: Always ask forgiveness from Allah with a lot of humility
Traveler: I want people to respect me always.
Prophet [PBUH]: Never extend your hands of need at people
Traveler: I want to always be honored.
Prophet [PBUH]: Never humiliate or put down anyone
Traveler: I don't want to be squeezed by fishare qabr. (Squeezing in the grave)
Prophet [PBUH] : Recite Sura-e-Mulk often
Traveler: I want my wealth to increase. Prophet [PBUH] : Recite Sura-e-Waqia every night Traveler: I want to be safe and at peace on Day of Judgement.
Prophet [PBUH] : Do Zikr of Allah from dusk to night Traveler: I want to be in full attention and concentration during prayers.
Prophet [PBUH] : Always do Wudhoo with concentration and attention

MIRACLE OF QURAAN

Relationship with parents BY MAULANA THANVI

1. Never be disrespectful to parents. Do not say a harsh word to them.
2. Even if parents are unjust, it is not lawful for children to ill-treat, disobey or displease them.
3. Obey them in all lawful things. If they instruct you to do anything which is unlawful in the Sharee'ah , then politely and with respect and apology decline. Never refuse rudely nor argue with them.
4. When parents abuse, scold or even beat their children, they should submit to such treatment with humility. Never should they utter a word of disrespect or complaint, nor should they display on their faces any indication of disgust or anger. Bear their treatment in silence and with patience. Make du'aa for them.
5. Assist them in all lawful ways even if they happen to be non-Muslims.
6. Whenever you see them, greet them.
7. If you are living with them, take their permission before going anywhere. Inform them of your whereabouts.
8. If you are engaged in Nafl Salaat and your parents call you, break your Salaat and answer their call, even if there is no urgency or importance in their call. If you are performing Fardh Salaat and you detect urgency in their call, then break even the Fardh Salaat to answer their call.
9. Do not call them on their names. Address them with a title of respect and honour.
10. After death, make du'aa of forgiveness for them. Pray for their forgiveness and within your means, practice virtuous deeds with the intention of the thawaab thereof being bestowed on them by Allah .
11. Pay the debts of your parents.
12. If they had made any lawful wasiyyat (bequest), fulfil it if you are by the means to do so.
13. Be kind, respectful and helpful to the friends of your parents.
14. When entering the private room of parents, seek their permission before entering.
15. Always be cheerful in their presence.
16. Speak kindly and tenderly with them.
17. When speaking to parents, keep your gaze low. Do not stare them in the face.
18. Do not raise your voice above the voices of your parents.
19. Be humble in their presence.
20. When accompanying parents on a walk, do not walk in front of them nor on the right or left side. Walk slightly behind them.
21. Even in their absence, speak highly and respectfully of them.
22. Do not give preference to the wife over them (this does not apply to the rights of the wife. Where parents instruct their son to violate or discard the obligatory rights of his wife, it will not be permissible to obey them in this case.)
23. Always endeavour to keep them happy.
24. Do not embark on a journey without their permission.
25. When they question you, do not inconvenience them by delaying your reply.
26. It is highly disrespectful to refrain from answering them.
27. If at any time you were disrespectful to your parents, regret your action and hasten to obtain their pardon.

Hazrat IMAM ABU HANIFA AND THREE QUESTIONS

Many years ago, during the time of the Taabi'een (the generation of Muslims after the Sahabah), Baghdad was a great city of Islam. In fact, it was the capital of the Islamic Empire and because of the great number of scholars who lived there, it was the center of Islamic knowledge. One day, the ruler of Rome at that time sent an envoy to Baghdad with three challenges for the Muslims. When the messenger reached the city, he informed the Khalifah that he had three questions which he challenged the Muslims to answer. The Khalifah gathered together all the scholars of the city and the Roman messenger climbed upon a high platform and said,

I have come with three questions. If you answer them, then I will leave with you a great amount of wealth which I have brought from the king of Rome." As for the questions, they! were: 'What was there before Allah?' 'In which direction does Allah face?' 'What is Allah engaged in at this moment?'

The great assembly of people were silent. (Can you think of answers to these questions?) In the midst of these brilliant scholars and students of Islam, there was a man looking on with his young son. "O my dear father! I will answer him and silence him!" said the youth. So the boy sought the permission of the Khalifah to give the answers and he was given the permission to do so.
The Roman addressed the young Muslim and repeated his first question, "What was there before Allah?" The boy asked, "Do you know how to count?" "Yes," said the man. "Then count down from ten!" So the Roman counted down, "ten, nine, eight, ..." until he reached "one" and he stopped counting. "But what comes before 'one'?" asked the boy. "There is nothing before one - that is it!" said the man. "Well then, if there obviously is nothing before the arithmetic 'one', then how do you expect that there should be anything before the 'One' who is Absolute truth, All-Eternal, Everlasting the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Hidden?" Now the man was surprised by this direct answer which he could not dispute. So he asked, "Then tell me, in which direction is Allah facing?" "Bring a candle and light it," said the boy, "and tell me in which direction the flame is facing." "But the flame is just light - it spreads in each of the four directions, North, South, East and West. It does not face any one direction only," said the man in wonderment. The boy cried, "Then if this physical light spreads in all four directions such that you cannot tell me which way it faces, then what do you expect of the Nur-us-Samawati-wal-'Ard: Allah - the Light of the Heavens and the Earth!? Light upon Light, Allah faces all directions at all times."

The Roman was stupefied and astounded that here was a young child answering his challenges in such a way that he could not argue against the proofs. So, he desperately wanted to try his final question. But before doing so, the boy said, "Wait! You are the one who is asking the questions and I am the one who is giving the answers to these challenges. It is only fair that you should come down to where I am standing and that I should go up where you are right now, in order that the answers may be heard as clearly as the questions." This seemed reasonable to the Roman, so he came down from where he was standing and the boy ascended the platform. Then the man repeated his final challenge, "Tell me, what is Allah doing at this moment?" The boy proudly answered, "At this moment, when Allah found upon this high platform a liar and mocker of Islam, He caused him to descend and brought him low. And as for the one who believed in the Oneness of Allah, He raised him up and established the Truth. Every day He exercises (universal) power (Surah 55 ar-Rahman, Verse 29)." The Roman had nothing to say except to leave and return back to his country, defeated.

Allah sets on him a snake called 'the brave', 'the bold' which hits him from morning until afternoon for leaving Fajr prayer, from the afternoon until Asr for leaving Dhuhr prayer and so on. With each strike he sinks 70 yards under the ground.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) said: 'When a man dies and his relatives are busy in funeral, there stands an extremely handsome man by his head. When the dead body is shrouded, that man gets in between the shroud and the chest of the deceased.
When after the burial, the people return home, 2 angels, Munkar and Nakeer(names of two special Angels), come in the grave and try to separate this handsome man so that they may be able to interrogate the dead man in privacy about his faith. But the handsome man says, 'He is my companion, he is my friend. I will not leave him alone in any case. If you are appointed for interrogation, do your job. I cannot leave him until I get him admitted into Paradise '.
Thereafter he turns to his dead companion and says, 'I am the Qur'an, which you used to read, sometimes in a loud voice and sometimes in a low voice. Do not worry. After the interrogation of Munkar and Naker, you will have no grief.'
When the interrogation is over, the handsome man arranges for him from Al-Mala'ul A'laa (the angels in Heaven) silk bedding filled with musk.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) said: 'On the Day of Judgement, before Allah, no other Intercessor will have a greater status than the Qur'an, neither a Prophet nor an angel.'
May Allah bestow his favour on all of us.

Smoking Prohibited in Islam

Discovery Of Tobacco
Tobacco was discovered by the Spanish sailors on the American shores at about 1500 CE (900 AH). Since its discovery, the epidemic of smoking has continued to spread all over the world. In our times, one seldom finds a house not afflicted by it. As early as the Seventeenth Century, the European countries realized the dangers of smoking and fought against it Laws were ordained in England, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, and other countries, prohibiting smoking and punishing violators. Nowadays, the Western countries continue their attempts to protect their peoples from the harms of smoking. They employ media means, ordain laws and regulations, and apply other methods to discourage people from smoking. Because of that, the rate of smokers has declined to a certain degree in those countries.
Smoking Among Muslims
Smoking was introduced to the Muslim countries by the Europeans around 1000 AH. Its spread among the Muslims was similar to that in the West. The unfortunate fact, however, is that in the Muslim countries, no similar measures were exerted to protect the people from it. To the contrary, the media continues to advertise smoking and encourage people to do it. This caused the epidemic of smoking to continue to spread in those countries to such an extent that it has become hard to control. Smoking has become the rule, and abstaining from it the exception. Often, people look with astonishment and disdain at a person whom when a cigarette is offered to him, declines to smoke explaining that he does not smoke. Offering cigarettes to the guests has become among the first rules of hospitality. Anyone who does not offer them to his guests or insist on them to smoke would be violating the ethics of hospitality and generosity! Furthermore, some of those who pretend to represent the Deen are among the worst addicts to smoking. When they are reproached or reminded of their vice, they respond by providing weak excuses to justify it in the name of Islam. They slyly remark that there is no clear text prohibiting smoking. Therefore, they conclude, smoking is not prohibited, but is only makruh (disliked). By this, they provide a poor excuse for the ignorant, and establish a very bad example for others. Such statements have influenced many Muslims, causing them to fall into the snares of addiction to smoking. This is observed all over the world. A striking example is that All-American airlines now prohibit smoking, even on most international flights; on the other hand, for Muslim airlines, one travels in a near-suffocation state, even on short trips, because of the high number of smokers. Thus, it becomes incumbent to write an article which provides evidence concerning the ruling of smoking in Islam. We hope that this will benefit our Muslim brothers and sisters; and we ask Allah to accept it from us as a sincere deed for His pleasure.
Evidence for the Prohibition of Smoking
There are many reasons, any one of which sufficient to rule smoking prohibited. Most importantly, it is harmful in numerous ways. It is harmful to the Deen, health, environment, family, brotherhood and social relations, property, etc. The following sections will briefly outline some of its harms and evils.
Haram To The Deen
Smoking spoils a person's acts of worship and reduces their rewards. For instance, it spoils the prayer, which is the pillar of Deen. Allah's Messenger said: Whoever eats garlic or onion, let him avoid us and our masjid, and stay in his home. The angels are surely hurt by things that hurt the human beings (1)Those with clean and undefiled fitrah (nature) have no doubt that the smell emanating from the mouth of a smoker is worse and more foul than that from the mouth of one who ate garlic or onion. Thus, a smoker is in between two options, either to harm the praying people and the angels with his foul smell, or miss the prayer in jama'ah. Smoking also spoils fasting. Fasting is very hard for the smoker. As soon as the day is over, he hastens to break his fast on an evil cigarette instead of sweet dates or pure water. Even if he fasts through the month Ramadan, a smoker is reluctant to fast on other days. Thus he loses the great reward of those who fast even one day in Allah's way.
Harm To The Human Body
No one can deny the harm of smoking to the human body. The medical evidence for this is well established and overwhelming. Because of this, the law in the United States and many other countries requires including a warning on any smoking advertisement. Smoking contains poisonous materials, such as nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic, benzopyrene, etc., that the smoker swallows in small proportions. Their harm accumulates with time to result in a gradual killing of the human organs and tissues. The hazards of smoking to the health are hard to enumerate. Cancer, tuberculosis, heart attacks, asthma, coughing, premature birth, infertility, infections in the digestive system, high blood pressure, nervousness, mouth and teeth diseases, etc., are among the many health hazards that have been strongly linked to smoking. These diseases may not appear all at once, however a smoker is most likely to suffer from some of them, and his suffering increases as he grows older. Furthermore, statistics have established that smokers' age is, on the average, ten years less than other people's. This is sufficient to prohibit smoking. Islam prohibits any action that causes harm to oneself or to other people. Allah says (what means): "Do not kill yourselves, Allah is indeed merciful to you." (2)"Do not cast yourselves, with your own hands, into destruction.": (3)And the Messenger says: No harm may be inflicted on oneself or others .(4)The feet of a human being will not depart, on the day of Judgement, from his standing before his Lord, until he is questioned about five things: his lifetime - how did he pass it, his youth - how did he used it, his wealth - where did he earn it and how did he spend it, and how did he follow what he knew. (5)Whoever consumes poison, killing himself with it, then he will he consuming his poison in the hellfire, and he will abide in it permanently and eternally. (6)
Harm To The Mind and Will Power
Smoking is harmful to the human mind and reason. An obvious demonstration of this is that one who is addicted to it passes through periods of severe craving, making it hard for him to think, concentrate, solve a problem, or do any important matter, until he smokes. When one smokes, his muscles slacken, and he passes through a brief period of delirium that curtains the thought. His digestive system is also affected, causing him frequent nervousness and trembling of the hands. He passes through periods of excitability, in irritation, and insomnia. Thus, instead of being Allah's slave, a smoker becomes slave to his cigarette. He develops a weaker control of his sense and reason. The faculty of reason, clear and unobstructed, is one of Allah's great bounties on people. He praised it in numerous places of the Qur'an; and He called on people to use it to see the truth and obey Him in a better way. Allah wants of the believer to be strong and capable of controlling the reigns of his desires. He said (what means): "AIIah wants to let you into His mercy, whereas those who follow the desires want you to drift far away (from the right path)." (7)
Harm To The Environment
A smoker emits his poisons in the faces of his companions, wife, children, and the environment. It is well established that second-hand smoke is almost as dangerous as first-hand. Thus, whether they like it or not, a smoker's associates are forced to inhale the smoke and be themselves smokers as well. In addition to the poisons normally carried in the smoke, if a smoker has an contagious disease, such as tuberculosis or influenza, his exhaled smoke and coughing carry the disease to those around him. Furthermore, a smoker irritates people by the foul smell and poisonous nature of his smoking. If they suffer from asthma or allergies, they are forced to move away from his vicinity. The Prophet (saws) said: Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt his neighbour .(8)Thus, smoking constitutes a definite harm to other people; this is prohibited, as was indicated in the hadith cited earlier. Also, a smoker is certainly a bad companion to sit with, as is depicted in the following hadith: Verily, the example of a good companion and a bad one is like that of a perfume merchant and a blacksmith: As for the perfume merchant, he would either grant you (some perfume), or you would buy (some perfume) from him, or (in the least) you would get a good smell from him. And as for the blower of the bellows (ironsmith), you would either get a foul odour from him, or he would burn your clothes.(9)
Harm To The Property
A smoker wastes his wealth on that which harms and has no benefit; he will be asked about his wealth and how he spent it, as has been cited in the hadith earlier. His wealth belongs to Allah, so how would he dare to waste it in disobedience to Him? Allah says (what means): "And do not entrust to the imprudent ones the possessions that Allah has placed in your charge.. (10)"And do not waste (your resources) extravagantly. Indeed the squanderers are the brethren of the devils" (11)And the Prophet (saws) said: Allah hates for you three things: gossiping, begging, and wasting money.(12) Furthermore, there are numerous cases of burnt carpets, furniture, and even complete houses and establishments that have resulted from this disastrous vice.
Moral Decadence
Smoking is a form of moral decadence. It is most spread among the low-class immoral people. It reflects blind imitation of the non-Muslims. It is mostly consumed in bars, discos, casinos, and other: places of sin. A smoker may beg or steal if he does not have the money to buy cigarettes. He is ill-mannered with his friends and family, especially when he misses taking his necessary "dose" at the usual time.
Evil Substance
Smoking involves the consumption of an evil substance (khabeeth). It has a foul smell, foul taste, and is harmful to the body. This is sufficient to: prohibit it, because Allah says (what means): "(The Prophet) who will enjoin upon them the doing of what is right, forbid them the doing of what is wrong, make lawful to them the good things of life, prohibit for them the evil things, and lift from them their burdens and the shackles that were (previously) upon them." (13)
Resembling The People Of The Fire
A smoker inhales the smoke that does not give him any nourishment. This is similar to the action of the people of the Hell fire who eat harmful thorny plants: "No food will be there for them but a poisonous thorny plant, which will neither nourish them nor still their hunger." (14)Bad Example A smoker, whether he likes it or not, makes of himself an example for his children and others to follow. He leads them to commit this evil. Actions sometimes have a stronger effect than words. Thus, even if he advises them or forbids them from smoking, his partaking of it provides them with a strong excuse to do it. The problem is worse when the smoker is of known piety or knowledge. In such case, his harm becomes more emphasized, because more people take him as guide and example, and are thus lead astray by him. This multiplies his sins and increases his burden. Hostility Toward The Good People The majority of good people avoid smoking and stay away from smokers. Therefore, a smoker would be forced to stay away from them - at least while he smokes. He puts himself in a selective exile, creating a spiritual distance and hostility between him and the good people, and a closeness to the evil people. The effects of this become more apparent and acute with time. Note that this applies equally to any sin that a person commits, small or large.Low Self Esteem A smoker despises himself, because he feels that a little cigarette is controlling him. Realizing his weakness before desires, this creates in him a feeling of defeat in the face of hardships. Scholars' Verdict Since smoking became known to Muslims, all of the great scholars who have the capability of Ijtihad (deriving verdicts in new situations) agree to its prohibition. Thus, there is no value for baseless opinions, conflicting with this, provided by self-proclaimed lesser scholars.
Warnings
In discussing the subject of the prohibition of smoking, there are some important warnings that need to be mentioned:
1. As indicated before, the prohibition of smoking is not restricted to cigarettes, but applies as well to other objects that have similar effects such as cigars, pipes, water-pipes, chewing tobacco or sniffing tobacco, etc.
2. The reasons mentioned above for prohibiting smoking apply as well, and more strongly, to various types of drugs and hashish such as marijuana and -tat. These materials have additional problems such as causing drunkenness, death, madness, etc.
3. The prohibition of smoking is not restricted to consuming it, but applies as well to offering it to people, sitting with those who are smoking, or selling it. All of this involves helping people commit sins, which is prohibited, as Allah says (which means):
"Help one another in righteousness and piety, and do not help one another in sinning and transgression. And fear and revere Allah; verily, Allah is severe in punishment." (15)Also, Allah's Messenger said: Indeed when Allah prohibits something, he prohibits eating its price.(16) Treating the Disease of Smoking Only few of those addicted to smoking are able to stop it. The reasons for this are many, among which are the following: 1. The addictive nature of the poisonous substances contained in it.2. The smokers are not totally convinced of its prohibition.3. They do not have a strong determination to refrain from it.The following are some suggestions to help a person stop smoking:1. Rely on Allah sincerely, with full determination not to return to smoking, in compliance with Allah's command: "When you decide on a certain course of action, place your trust in Allah." (17)2. Stop immediately instead of claiming it is best to do it gradually. The gradual approach is the way of one who does not trust his determination and the will power that Allah has granted him. Let the example be taken from the Sahabah who, as soon as Allah's command reached them regarding alcohols: " Will you not then desist?"(18) They immediately poured out all the alcohol that they had and said, "We desist our Lord, we desist!" They did this despite the fact that alcohol has a greater addictive power over those who drink it. 3. Avoid the bad company of smokers and smoking environments that are full with the smell of smoke. 4. Change the food diet by abstaining from foods and drinks that would entice the craving to smoke such as spices, meat, tea, and coffee; and eating a lot of vegetables and fruits. 5. Use medically tested and established procedures to help stop smoking, as directed by physicians, such as nicotine patches, nicotine gum, etc. 6. Expel the secret whispers of Satan who continuously dictates to the human being that he is weak and incapable of refraining from sinning, as Allah says (what means) "It is but Satan who instills (into you) fear of his allies; so do not fear them, but fear Me if you are (truly) believers.. " (19)"Fight then against the allies of Satan; indeed, Satan's guile is weak.. " (20)

The Fast of the Day of Âshura (10th of Muharram)

With the sighting of the new moon the Islaamic new year is ushered in. The first month Muharram is one of the four sacred months that Allah has mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan.

From out of the four sacred months, Muharram has been blessed with certain specific virtues. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: The best of fasts besides the month of Ramadhaan is the fasting of Allah’s month of Muharram and the best of salaat besides the fardh (compulsory) salaat is the tahajjud salaat (performed after midnight before dawn). Muslim Vol.1 Page 368

The tenth day of this sacred month, Muharram is known as Aashoorah. It is one of the most important and blessed days of Allah in the Islaamic calendar. Some ulamaa (scholars) are of the opinion that before the fasts of Ramadhaan were made compulsory, the fast of the day of Aashoorah was compulsory upon the ummah. This is stated in a hadeeth reported by Aaishah radhiyallahu anha that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam ordered the observance of the fast of Aashoorah. However, when the fast of Ramadhaan became compulsory, then whosoever wished, kept this fast and whosoever desired did not observe this fast. Bukhari Vol.1 Page 268

But, nevertheless the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam continued to fast this day and encouraged his Companions to do the same. Ibne Abbas radhiyallahu anhu says: I did not see Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam anxiously await the fast of any day, which he gave preference to over other days, but this day, the day of Aashoorah. Bukhari Vol.1 Page 268

In another hadeeth, Ibne Abbas raahiyallahu anhu narrates that the Holy Prophet sallallaha alayhi wasallam came to Madinah and found the Jews fasting on the day of 'Aashoorah. Hence the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam inquired of them, "What is (the significance of) this day on which you fast?" They replied, "This is a great day. On this day Allah saved Moosa and his people and drowned Fir’awn and his nation. Thus Moosa alayhis salaam fasted on this day as a token of thanksgiving, therefore we too fast on this day." The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "We are more worthy of Moosa and nearer to him than you." Thereafter, the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam fasted on this day and ordered (his Companions) that a fast be kept on this day. (Muslim Vol.1 Page 359)

The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam has exhorted and encouraged his ummah to fast on this day. Abu Qataadah radhiyallahu anhu narrates that the Holy Prophet sallahllahu alayhi wasallam was asked regarding the fast of the day of Aashoorah. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied: "It is a compensation for the (minor) sins of the past year". (Muslim Vol.1 Page 368)
NOTE:- It must be borne in mind that wherever a promise of forgiveness of sins is made upon the fulfillment of some action, it is only the minor sins that are forgiven. The major sins are not forgiven without true tawbah (repentance).
One should also observe the fast of the 9th Muharram to safeguard his deed from resemblance with the non-muslims who fast only on the 10th Muharram. Ibne Abbas radhiyallahu anhu said: When Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam observed the fast of the day of Aashoorah and ordered (his Companions) to fast, they said, "O Rasulullah!It is a day revered by the Jews and Christians." Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "The coming year, if Allah wills, we will fast on the ninth (also)". (Muslim Vol.1 Page 359)

These ahadeeth indicate clearly that one should fast on the ninth and tenth of Muhaaram. However, if one does not manage to fast on the ninth, then he should fast on the eleventh of Muharram instead. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "Observe the fast of Aashoorah and oppose the Jews. Fast a day before it or a day after." (Bayhaqi). Hence, it is important to either fast on the ninth and tenth of Muharram or the tenth and eleventh. To fast only on the day of Aashoorah is makrooh tanzeehi as stated by Allamah Ibne Aabideen Shaami. One should be generous on one’s family and dependents and spend more on them than what is normally spent. Abu Hurayrah radhiyallahu anhu reports that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "One who generously spends on his family on the day of Aashoorah, Allah will increase (his provision) for the whole year". It is absolutely clear that the significance of the day of Aashoorah is from the time of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. However, many people regard this day as the day of mourning the martyrdom of Hadhrat Husayn radhiyallahu anhu. The martyrdom of Hadhrat Husayn radhiyallahu anhu was indeed a great tragedy but Islaam is not a religion of perpetual mourning. Abu Saeed radhiyallahu anhu relates that Rasullullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has cursed mourners and those who listen to them (attentively). (Abu Dawood)

Hazrat Baba Farid-ud-din Mas'ud Ganj-e-Shakar

He was born on the 29th Sha'ban in 569 A.H. (About 1179 AD) in Khotwal, a village near Lahore (Pakistan). His father, Maulana Kamal-ud-din, belonged to the royal family of Kabul. Farrukh Adil shah, a famous ruler of the dynasty, ruled over Kabul with dignity for a long time. Maulana Kamal-ud-din was a descendant of Umar Farooq (The 2nd Caliph) and had twenty of his ancestors in between. When Chingez Khan directed his attention towards Kabul, he left the place and came to Punjab and finally settled down in the village of Kotwal of Multan. His mother, Qarsam Khatun, was the daughter of a renowned learned man.
One day, during the pregnancy of his mother, she wanted to pluck some plums from her neighbour's tree without his permission, but the child in her womb (Hazrat Baba Farid) created a severe pain in her stomach that forced her to abandon the idea of plucking. After a few years after Hazrat Baba Farid’s birth, his mother lovingly expressed: "My dear son, during your confinement I never ate anything which was unlawful." Hazrat Baba Farid, however, smiled and said, "But, my dear mother, you wanted to pluck some plums from our neighbour's tree without his permission when I had created a severe pain in your stomach which saved you from this unlawful act."
He was born on the 29th Shabaan, as the night was cloudy, people did not know whether Ramadan had begun or not. But a dervish told them that a wali (God's friend) had been born who would be the Qutub (spiritual monarch) of his time, and that they must look to the child for their answer. Sure enough, the one-day old Baba Farid did not touch his mother's milk after "sehri", indicating to all that Ramadaan had in fact begun.
After he had completed his early religious education at the age of 7 in Khotwal, his mother sent him for higher education to Multan (Pakistan). Here he stayed in a Masjid (mosque) where he learnt the Holy Qur'an by heart and studied Hadith,
Fiqh, Philosophy and Logic under the tutorship of Maulana Minhajuddin. Once during his early ages, Baba Farid went to Hazrat Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti for Bay't (Oath of allegiance), as Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti was one of the greatest Sufi of that time. When young Baba Farid reached to him, Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti was sitting under a withered tree by supporting his back by that. Baba Farid thought, Alas! A great Sufi is sitting with the support of a withered tree! Baba Farid looked at the tree, the tree turned greeny with green leaves & fruits. Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti looked at the tree, the tree again became withered as it was before. Baba Farid again made the tree green, and Khwaja Moin made it withered again, and asked Baba Farid: "Have you come here to learn Faqiri (Sufism) or to fight with God? It's God's will that, this tree should be withered, but you are making it green. Now go to Qutub-ud-din, he will teach you."
At that time Hazrat Khwaja Qutub-ud-din Baktiar Kaki of Delhi (a great Sufi) was on a visit to Multan, so Hazrat Baba Farid went to him for Bay't, as Khwaja Moin-ud-din told him. When Baba Farid reached to the Hujra (closet) of Hazrat Qutub-ud-din Bakhtiar Kaki, he saw that Hazrat Qutub-ud-din is standing with children and watching a juggler, who was entertaining the children from his funny acts. Baba Farid thought: "How could this person teach me Sufism, he is so childish." Because Hazrat Qutub-ud-din was a high spiritual Sufi, so by Kashf (Divine inspiration) he knew about Baba Farid's thoughts. So he went to his Hujra (closet) and came back dressing like an old man & said to Baba Farid: "Am I able to become your Shaikh (Spiritual teacher) now?" Baba Farid then took the Bay't (Oath of allegiance) & become his desciple in "Chishtiya" Silsila. Once during the winter season, at night Hazrat Qutub-ud-din asked Baba Farid to bring some warm water for his Wudhu (Ablution). The fire wasn't available there to warm the water, so Baba Farid went out to look for fire, in whole town he didn't found fire. Finally far away in an old woman's home he found fire, and asked the old woman to give him fire. The woman said that she will only give him the fire when he would give his one eye to her. It was a test of Baba Farid as a Murid (Spiritual desciple), Baba Farid agreed to give his eye to her, so the old woman took his eye & gave him the fire. When Baba Farid returned, he was holding the fire on one hand, and with the other hand he was hiding his lost eye, so that his Shaikh couldn't know that at what cost he brought the fire. After warming the water he made the Wudhu (Ablution) of his Shaikh. In the morning Khwaja Qutub-ud-din saw Baba Farid that the bandage is tied on his one eye, he asked Baba Farid that what happened to his eye? Baba Farid replied that his eye is effected. Hazrat Qutub-ud-din replied: "Your eye is well effected". When he opened the bandage, the eye was there, but it was a little larger than the other eye.
Since that time, the descendant of Baba Farid have one eye larger than the other one till today.
Upon the instructions of his Shaikh (Spiritual Teacher), he undertook a tour of Islamic countries, for about 18 years from 593 A.H. to 611 A.H. (1196 AD to 1214 AD) he traveled to Baghdad, Jerusalem, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Makka and Madina meeting many great saints and Sufis. He also travelled through Karachi city of Pakistan, where his Chillagah (Place of Spiritual contemplation) is still present in Karachi's Manghopir area. At that time Karachi was a deserted
place, and the caravans of Hajj (pilgramage) were used to pass through Karachi from India towards Makka. And at that time Karachi was the ideal place of bandits, who always looted the caravans. Sultan Manghopir was the leader of the bandits, he also looted Baba Farid when he was in his way to Makka. But Baba Farid's divine sight completely changed him. He left his looting habbit, and became a desciple of Baba Farid, and practiced Sufism. Today his shrine is well known in Pakistan as "Sakhi Sultan Manghopir". After the demise of Hazrat Khwaja Qutub-ud-din, Baba Farid became his spiritual successor.
When Baba Farid visited Madina, he was spiritually commanded by the Holy Prophet to visit Baghdad and meet Hazrat Abdul Wahab, son of Hazrat Ghaus-al-Azam Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. He was to receive some sacred relics from him. Accordingly, when he reached Baghdad, he received a box from Hazrat Abdul Wahab, which contained the following holy relics: Two flag-poles which were used by the Holy Prophet in some of the battles fought by him; one wooden bowl in which the Prophet used to eat from; one pair of scissors and one turban which was used by the holy Prophet. Because of political upheavals in Delhi, he was obliged to shift the centre of the Chishtiya mission from Delhi to "Pak-Pattan". The Khanqah (Spiritual school) of Baba Farid, with his patronage, became a great university of "moral and spiritual training." Thousands of aspirants, scholars, dervishes and Sufis reaped benefit from this spiritual university. Baba Farid reached the pinnacle of spiritual glory through extremely hard Mujahidas (spiritual striving) to gain mastery over the Nafs.
Once Hazrat Khwaja Qutub-ud-din ordered Hazrat Baba Farid to perform the "Chilla-e-Maakoos" for 40 days. This chilla was seldom undertaken by Sufis and was one of the most difficult tests of Baba Farid's faith and courage. It was to be performed in a well by hanging himself in a reverse or headlong position with his feet tied up by a rope to a sturdy branch of a treetop. Once, due to utter weakness, Baba Farid helped himself to walk with the aid of a staff. But after a few steps, the colour of his face suddenly became purple, as if he was under heavy punishment. He threw away the staff. When Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin, who was escorting him, enquired the reason for this, Baba Farid replied: "I wanted to take help of the staff, but Allah’s Displeasure frowned upon me for depending on other’s help instead of His. I, therefore, threw away the staff and felt highly ashamed of this weakness in my faith in Rabb (God), the
Almighty."
He fasted throughout his life and maintained his nightly prayers and devotions. Fear of Allah always dominated him. He was a staunch devotee of The Holy Prophet Muhammad, and dedicated his entire life to the veneration of the beloved Prophet's immortal glory. At the mention of the Holy Prophet's character he would often weep out of his love and devotion. Baba Farid also wrote devoted Sufi poetry in Punjabi language.

Once Baba Farid was passing through a jungle. He became thirsty & looked for water, but there was no water around. At last he saw a well but there was neither bucket nor rope to draw water. This dismayed him and he sat there. A short while later a herd of deer's appeared at the well. The well water rose upto the brim of the well. The deer drank to their fill. But when Baba Farid reached it the water lowered. He said complaining to God: "Am I inferior to the deer that water came up for them but for me it went down?" He heard the answer: "The deer depended upon Me, but you trusted the bucket and rope. What to complain for now!" Baba Farid realized his mistake and felt ashamed. On the 5th of Muharram, 1265 AD during the Isha prayer (night prayer) while in the act of Sajdah (Bowing God), he uttered "Ya-Hayyu Ya-Qayyum" (O Self-Subsisting, O Eternal -- two names of God) and with these words on his lips his soul disappeared into the eternal bliss of his beloved Allah.
An old woman that was one of the devotees of the Saint presented a piece of cloth for the "kaffan" (shroud) of Hazrat Baba Farid. She implored: "I have not spun even a single thread of this cloth without having "Wudhu" (purification). I had prepared it for my own coffin but if it is accepted for the kaffan of this great Saint, I feel confident, Allah would be pleased with to pardon my sins and grant me salvation." Hazrat Baba Farid’s son accepted this cloth as the Kaffan. His Mazar (shrine) is in Pak-Pattan, Pakistan. Hazrat Sabir Kaleri, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and Hazrat Jamaluddin Hanswi are among his favourite Murids (desciples). It is generally recognized that he had three wives and many children. Baba Farid was indeed one of the most brilliant stars of the Chishtiyya Silsila and is held in high esteem by one and all.

Hazrat Owais Qarni (RA)

Hazrat Owais Qarni was born in the village of "Qaran" in Yemen. River "showor" flowed through the city of Zubaida, the affluent metropolis where traders from all around gathered for business and travel. Owais Qarni's father Abdullah, was a very religious and god-fearing person and wanted to bring up his son in the strict principles of Islam. He passed away leaving Owais an orphan at a young age. The family was so poor that there was no money to send him to Maktab or a teacher. The miracle here is that Hazrat Rasule Karim (SA) became the spiritual guardian of this child and though they never met, Hazrat Rasullullah (SA) guided him at all times - such was their bondage. This is the reason why Rasullullah (SA) would often look toward Yemen, and say : "I am getting the beautiful fragrance Allah's blessings in the breeze. It is for Owais Qarni." Hazrat Owais Qarni (RA) could never meet Rasullullah (SA), primarily because he used to take care of his sick mother. She would not allow him to go anywhere. After the battle of Uhud, when Owais Qarni came to know that the Prophet had lost a few teeth during the encounter, he broke all his teeth one by one till none was left - as he did not know exactly how many or which ones were lost by the prophet (SA). Such was the bondage of divine love between the two men, who never met each other. Once he went to Madina but failed to meet his most loved guardian. It is on record that on that day the Prophet (SA) suddenly left home to say prayers in the mosque, leaving hurried instructions that a great saint was coming to visit him shortly and that it was predestined that they shall never meet in this world. Owais Qarni (RA) knocked the Prophet's door minutes after the Prophet had left. When he was told that the Prophet had just left for a nearby mosque, he only smiled, cried for a while and then left. Years after the Prophet's demise, on repeated requests from Khalifa Hazrat Umar (RA), Owais Qarni (RA) visited Madina where his most admired lay buried. He asked Umar to come just outside the border of Madina to meet him. Umar did what the great saint had bid, but asked why he ordered him to meet him outside Madina? Owais Qarni said, "Omar, how can you walk so close over the soil under which lay buried the body of Muhammad? I cannot even set my foot on the city where he lies buried." Such was the depth of his love for the Prophet. At last, only after the passing away of his mother, he could pay respects to Rasullullah's holy grave. Such was pre-ordained for the greatest lover of Allah and his Prophet. But it illustrated the pedestal of mothers. Serving them would take precedence over visiting even the Prophet.Hazrat Owais Qarni used to avoid meeting people who called on him, observing that the Day of Judgement was near and he could not afford to waste his time in earthly gossips.Qarni taught := He who recognises God as a friend makes friendship with no other creature= Consider the Quran like Khidr, thy guide, in the path and never forget death. Pray regularly and always.= Remember night is meant for worship not sleep.Just before the Prophet left the world, he left his "Kherqa" (wearing clothes) for Hazrat Owaiz Qarni. He entrusted two of his greatest disciples - Hazrat Omar Faruk (RA) and Hazrat Ali Karmullah (RA) to personally carry the farewill gifts to Owaiz Qarni. What an honour conferred that would not be in the fortunes of the most fortunates! When they reached they found him in a forest, deeply engaged in prayers. They decided not to disturb him and had to wait for two long days when he raised his head from 'Sejda' (state of prostration) They heard him beg mercy of Allah for the mankind and they also heard him complain why He had created such short days that passed into nights before he could finish his first morning 'ruku' (bowing) and why He had so thriftily designed the length of nights that the sun would rise before he could complete his first evening 'sejda'. Such was the awesome intensity of his submission to Allah.This is Hazrat Owais Qarni (RA). Great is his life, greater are his spiritual attainments and this is the life of the greatest lover of Rasullullah (SA) that ever lived on earth.

HAZRAT ABU MUHAMMAD IMAM JA’FAR SADIQ rz. a

Hazrat Ja’far once summoned by the Caliph. He went there. The Caliph was much pleased with him and wanted to offer some gold. But he refused to accept anything. The Caliph then entreated that he might ask anything to his liking. Hazrat Ja’far said, “If you are pleased, grant me this boon that you never summon me to your presence again, as it dislocates my worship.” The Caliph agreed.
Somebody commented, “Hazrat Ja’far, you put on very costly dress.” He said, “Mark my underwear.” The man thrust his hand below his gown and was shocked to find that the undergarments on the body were made of coarse sack cloth, and by that touch the skin of his hand was scratched all their skin of his hand was scratched all over. He said, “What do these two classes of dress signify?” Hazrat Ja’far replied, “ the outer garment is for the world (to hide my devotion and avoid publicity) and the inner one is for my Lord’s pleasure (Who honors our poverty and cherishes our renunciation).”
Somebody questioned, “Who is to be preferred, Tawangar-e-Shakiri (a rich man who offers gratitude to the Lord for His gifts to him) or Faaqir-e-Sabir (a derviesh lodged in contentment)?” Hazrat Ja’far replied, “The poor derviesh who is lodged in contentment is superior, because the rich is ever pondering over his riches whilst the derviesh is ever engaged in contemplation of the Lord. The Lord Himself praises the repentant converts and holds them superior to pious worshippers. Real remembrance (Zikar) defies all thoughts of world.”
Sayings of Hazrat Ja’far
i. On the Day of Judgment you will not be asked about your wealth or honor, or you ancestry and acquisitions, but for the spiritual practices undergone and the worship you have performed.
ii. God is not met until we are extremely distressed for Him, and seek Him just as a drowning man calls for help.
iii. It is sin to be vain about your worship.
iv. He is a favorite with God and His dear servant who repents every time he sins.
v. The secret was revealed to me when I became mad in love of God.

HAZRAT MAALIK IBN DINAAR ra

Someone asked: “Why do you not marry?” He answered, “I have renounced the world and woman is also part of the world.”
Hazrat Maalik said, “Since God has called me His friend I shall sacrifice my all for His sake, and spend my life in following His commandments.”
Hazrat Maalik said, “I went to see a man in the throes of death. I asked him to repeat the name of the Lord. He refused and went on repeating the numbers ten, eleven. I asked, “What does your refusal mean?” He replied, “When I try to pronounce the name of the Lord, I notice a great fire rushing towards me.” Thus he passed away. When I asked the people about him they told me that he used to extort much interest and employed and incorrect scale in his transactions, always giving less amount of goods by under-weighing with a view to profit by dishonesty.”
The daughter of Hazrat Maalik asked him why he did not sleep. He said, “I fear God, and do not know when His grace may fall on me, and finding me asleep go away, besides, I am that unfortunate one who eats the gifts of God and obeys the devil. I tell you if someone at the door of the mosque would call aloud who was the most ignoble being in the world, I would appear before him in answer.”
Sayings of Hazrat Maalik ibn Dinaar:
i. “When I knew the mean nature of the world, I became careless of its opinions about me and my acts.”
ii. “Do not associate with one whose association will not help you after death.”
iii. The Qur’an says, “You remember Me and I shall remember you.”
iv. The Qur’an says, “I shall answer your call and accept your prayers.”

HAZRAT HASSAN BASRI ra

In his childhood Hazrat Hasan was fortunate enough to drink the water that was left in the cup by the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W). When the Prophet knew of it he remarked, “This child will receive from the Lord an amount of knowledge equivalent to the water drunk.” When they brought Hazrat Hasan, as a newly born child before Hazrat Umer (R.A.U), he said, “Call him by the name of Hasan, as he is beautiful. He was initiated by Hazrat Ali (R.A.U).
A very interesting incident records the conversion of Hazrat Hasan. Before turning a Sufi, he was a jeweler. One day he proceeded to Rum (in Asia Minor) on business, and put up with the minister of the Sultan. The minister told him, “You well have to wait for some days as we are present accompanying the Sultan on an important private errand. If you so desire, you may accompany us.” Hazrat Hasan went in company of the Sultan, the minister, and others. They entered a vast wideness. In the middle of it, they saw a magnificent tent fixed up, which was guarded by army officers. The officers entered the tent and then came out. Then they circumambulated it and went away. Some very old respectable citizens who, like the officers, entered the tent, uttered some words, came out, circumambulated the tent and then went away followed them. Then came some medical experts who did likewise. Then came two hundred extremely beautiful young maidens, who entered the tent and acted as the previous ones had done. Lastly came the Sultan accompanied by his ministers, he too entered the tent, uttered some words, then circumambulated the tent and went away. Surprised at the incident Hazrat Hasan inquired of the minister what all that meant. The minister replied, “A very beautiful and brave son of Sultan died and his corpse is interred in a tomb on which stands that tent. Every year all of us visit it, and perform the ceremonies like the ones you saw today. First, the members of the army approach the tomb and addressing the Price say, “If by our arms, we could save thee from the God of Death, we would have sacrificed our life for the fulfillment of that aim, but we are helpless.” Then come the learned citizens who say, “If our knowledge and experience could save thee we should have surely averted thy death, but before Death we are helpless.” Then come the medical men, who say, “If our medicines could save thee, we would have left no stone unturned to save thee from the clutches of Death, but we were powerless before it.” Then come the beautiful maidens who say, “If our beauty and accomplishments could save you, we would have sacrificed our all to save you but we were powerless before Death.” Then enters the Sultan is turn accompanied by the ministers and says, “My son! We tried our best with our army, doctors, and other means to save thee, but no charge was possible in Divine dispensation. We bid you good-buy now and shall visit you nest year at this time.” This incident made such and indelible mark on the mind of Hazrat Hasan that he decided to pass the rest of his life in prayers and worship to face that inevitable end. He returned to Basra, gave up his business, took to solitude, and vowed never to smile in his whole life. Moreover, for seventy years he passed every moment in prayers. The cause that made Hazrat Hasan most famous was that in his life he felt only one necessity---God. In his anxiety to meet God, he took concern of nothing besides Him.
When Hazrat Ra’bia Basri would not come to attend the sermons of Hazrat Hasan, he would deliver no discourse that day. People in the audience asked him why he did that. He replied, “The syrup that is held by the vessels mean for the elephants cannot be contained in the vessels meant for the ants.” He was asked, “What is Islam, and who is a Muslim?” He replied, “Islam is in the books and Muslim is in the tomb.” Hazrat Hasan said that four incidents gave him the greatest lessons of life:
One: - Once I pulled off the garments of and eunuch in mere fun. He said, “Kindly return them to me, for nobody knows my real state.” Immediately the thought crossed my mind: What shall be our condition when on the Day of Judgment, we shall be made naked and all our sins lay bare?
Two: - A drunkard was struggling in mire. I told him to beware lest he should sink in it. He replied, “Hasan, if I fall I alone shall suffer. However, you take care of yourself. For if you fall, all your congregation will stand condemned.”
Three: - A child was one day carrying a lighted lamp. I asked him wherefrom he had brought the light. The child extinguished the light and said, “Tell me, where is the light gone?”
Four: - A beautiful young woman was running one day along the street with her head uncovered, and was complaining about her husband in harsh terms. I told her to cover her head and face. She said, “The love of my husband has made me lose my senses so much that I am not conscious of my body and of my surroundings. If you had not told me that my head and face were uncovered, I would have never known it. I would have walked like that in the street. However, it is a matter of surprise, O Hasan, that you pretend to be a lover of God, and yet are conscious of everything that crosses your way and retain your senses. What is this love of God like in you?”
Sayings of Hazrat Hassan Basri:
i. Depart not from your religious practice out of fear of the antagonists who condemn you. They condemned even the Lord.
ii. The end of the world and the beginning of the life to come is in the tomb.
iii. Evil company degenerates the seeker.
iv. Accumulating wealth is worse than drinking wine that is prohibited by the scriptures.
v. He who takes to solitude finds safety in it. Moreover, he who disowns allegiance to his carnal soul is set free.
vi. He is wise who digs out the foundation of the world and builds instead the castle of otherworldliness (eternity) on it.
vii. He, who gives up his spiritual practices to play the philanthropy in the world, trying to mould its evil ways, is ruined.
viii. The Lord humiliates whosoever loves silver and gold and he who considers himself the leader of the c9mmunity is misled and belittled.
ix. The Lord in the Qur’an says, “I shall forgive thee all thy transgressions if ye shall cast thy glances on none besides Me.”
x. It was asked, “How are you?” Hazrat Hasan replied, “I am like a person in the midst of the sea whose boat is shattered and he is floating in the waters.”

Hazrat Raabia Basri’s parents were so poor that, there was no oil in the house to light a lamp, not a cloth even to wrap her with.
She was the fourth child in the family. Here mother requested her husband to borrow some oil from a neighbor. But he had resolved in his life never to ask for anything from anyone except the Creator; so he pretended to go to the neighbor’s door and so gently knocked at it that he might no be heard and answered, and therefor returned home empty-handed. He told his wife that the neighbor did not open the door, so he came disappointed. In the nigh the Prophet (S.A.W.W) appeared to him in a dream and told him, “Your newly-born daughter is a favorite of the Lord, and shall lead many Muslims to the Path of Deliverance. You should approach the Ameer of Basra and present him with a letter in which should be written this message, ‘You offer Darood to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) one hundred times every night and four hundred times every Thursday night. However, since you failed to observe the rule last Thursday, as a penalty you must pay the bearer four hundred dinaars’.” Hazrat Raabia Basri’s father got up and went straight to the Ameer, with ears of joy rolling down his cheeks. The Ameer was delighted on receiving the message and knowing that he was in the eyes of the Prophet (S.A.W.W), he distributed in gratitude one thousand dinaars to the poor and paid with joy four hundred to Hazrat Raabia Basri’s father and requested him to come to him whenever he needed anything as he will benefit very much by the visit of such a soul dear to the Lord.”
After the death of her father, a famine overtook Basra and she parted from her sisters. Once she was accompanying a caravan that fell into the hands of robbers. The chief of the robbers took Hazrat Raabia Basri in custody as an article of loot, and taking her to the market as a slave. The new master of Hazrat Raabia Basri used to take hard services from her.
One day she was going on an errand. Whilst passing a street a vagabond pursued her. She ran to save herself from him, and in so doing, her foot slipped and she fell down and broke her arm. She thereupon prayed to the Lord, “I am a poor orphan and a slave. Now my hand too is broken. However, I do not mind these things if Thou be pleased with me. But make it manifest to me that You are pleased with me.” The Divine Voice in reply said, “Never mind all these sufferings. On the Day of Judgment your shall be accorded a status that shall be the envy of the angelseven.” Then she returned to her master’s service. After this incident, it became the daily practice with her to pass the whole night in prayers, after she had finished her household jobs. She used to pass many a day observing Fast.
Incidentally, once the master of the house woke up in the middle of the night, and was attracted by the pathetic voice in which Hazrat Raabia Basri was praying to her Lord. She was entreating in these terms: “Lord! You know well that my keen desire to carry out Your commandments and to serve Thee with all my hear, O light of my eyes. If I were free, I would pass the whole day and night in prayers. But what should I do when You have made me a slave of a human being?” he say that a Divine candle hung in the air without support in her room and the whole cell was flooded with light. At once he felt that it was sacrilegious to keep such a great saint in service, and instead decided to serve her himself. In them morning he called her and told her his decision that thenceforward he would serve her and she should dwell there as the mistress of the house and if she insisted on leaving the house he was willing to release her from bondage. She told him that she wanted to leave the house to carry into her worship in solitude. This, the master granted and she left the house.
Once Hazrat Raabia Basri proceeded on the holy pilgrimage to Mecca. She carried her luggage on an old donkey. It fell dead on the way. Her companions volunteered to carry her luggage. But she refused observing that she had set forth for the Hajj (pilgrimage) not under their shelter but under the Lord’s. She was left alone and the caravan passed on to the next stage. Then Hazrat Raabia Basri prayed to the Lord, “O Master of the worlds! I am a desolate, meek and poor woman. You first invited me to Thy House, Ka’ba, and now killed my donkey leaving me alone in the wilderness.” At once, the donkey revived. She put her luggage on it and proceeded on the pilgrimage. When she neared Ka’ba, she sat in prayers and said, “I am but a handful of dust and the Holy Ka’ba is a strong House. My object is that Ye meet me direct without any mediation (bew?sta).” The Divine Voice replied, “Raabia, should I turn the world topsy-turvy for thy sake so that the blood of all the creatures be recorded in thy name in the scroll of destiny? Dost thou not know that Moses sought to see Us? We cast a ray of our Effulgence merely and he passed into ecstasy, while the Mount Sinai was turned into a heap of black ash.”
Next time when Hazrat Raabia Basri proceeded on a pilgrimage to Ka’ba, and was passing through the wilderness, she observed that Ka’ba, the House of God, was coming to welcome her. Seeing it she said, “What shall I do with the House; I want to meet the Master of the House––the Lord. Dost not the Lord say that he who advances a step towards Him, He goes out to meet him ten steps? I can not be pleased with seeing the Ka’ba; I seek vision.
At this time, Hazrat Ibraaheem Adham was also on his way to Ka’ba and it was his practice to offer Nam?z (prayers) at every step on his way. On his arrival he found that the Ka’ba had disappeared. He was very much disappointed. The Divine Voice thereupon told him, “The Ka’ba is gone to welcome Hazrat Raabia Basri.” When the Ka’ba returned and Hazrat Raabia Basri arrived leaning on her staff sue to old age, Hazrat Ibraaheem approached her and said, “Raabia, why do you by your queer acts create hue and cry in the world?” Hazrat Raabia Basri replied, “I do noting of the sort; rather it is you who, to gain publicity, thus reach Ka’ba in fourteen years.” Hazrat Ibraaheem admitted that he did offer prayers at every step of his journey, she said, “You covered the way by saying Nam?z whilst I have covered the way through meekness and humility.”
Next year Hazrat Raabia Basri, again, started on a visit to the Ka’ba, and prayed to the Lord, “Grant me Thy vision.” And saying this she started on the journey by rolling dust all the way. The Voice of God thereupon said, “Raabia, beware: if We shall appear before thee in full effulgence, you shall be turned to ashes.” Hazrat Raabia Basri said, “I have not the courage to withstand the splendor and majesty of Thy face. Grant me Fuqr (asceticism) that is dear to Thee.” The Divine Voice replied, “You are not fit for it. That honor is reserved for men (males) who have died to their self (annihilated their ego and desires) their in lifetime for My sake and between whom and Me there is left a distance no more than that of a hair’s breadth. We bring such persons first very close to Us and then cast them away at a distance, when they strive to attain to Us. Raabia, between thee and Us there are still seventy veils. Not until they are removed and thou enter with a true heart in Our quest, it is futile for thee to ask the status of Fuqr from Us.”
Then the Divine Voice was again heard asking asceticism to look up in front of her. She looked. Lo! The whole scene was changed. She found herself witnessing an extraordinary sight. She saw held aloft in the air a surging ocean filled with blood, rolling with great speed. The Divine Voice said, “Raabia, this is the blood that has flowed from the eyes of Our lovers in the pangs of separation from Us. And, in spited of all the trials and afflictions to which they have been subjected, they have not budged an inch from the Path nor have they craved for anything from Us. In the very first step that they took in the path, they transcended all the desires and ambitions of this world and the next, and so secluded themselves from the world that none knew about them. Such was their distasted for publicity in the world.” Thereupon Hazrat Raabia Basri remarked, “Lord! Let me then stay at the Ka’ba.” This was refused to her. She then was permitted to return to Basra where she passed the rest of her life in solitude and prayers.
One day, Hazrat Raabia Basri was sitting in her cottage ready to partake of her meals when a derviesh arrived. Hazrat Raabia Basri, with a view to entertain him, placed the two loaves, which she had prepared for her meals before him. The derviesh was surprised, as there was nothing for Hazrat Raabia Basri to eat. Shortly he noticed that a lady came carrying some loaves in a dish, and offered them to Hazrat Raabia Basri saying that her mistress had sent them to her. Hazrat Raabia Basri asked the number of loaves she had brought. She replied, “Eighteen.” Hazrat Raabia Basri did not accept them and asked her to take them back to her mistress. She went away and returned after a time. Hazrat Raabia Basri accepted them when she was told that they were twenty. The derviesh asked the reason of Hazrat Raabia Basri’s first refusing and then accepting. She said, “The Lord has said in the Qur’an that he who offers in His name a gift, He recompenses him tenfold. So I accepted the gift only when the words of the Scripture were fulfilled.”
One day Hazrat Raabia Basri was preparing her loaves. She remembered that there was no vegetable with her. Immediately some onions fell from the roof. She kicked them aside, with the remark, “Satan! Away with thy trick. Does my Lord keep an onion shop?” Hazrat Raabia Basri said, “I have never asked for anything from anybody but from God and accepted nothing from anybody abut from Him.”
One day Hazrat Basri saw Hazrat Raabia Basri surrounded y wild beasts, which were casting affectionate glances at her. But Hazrat Hasan Basri approached her, they all ran away. He asked, “Why did they ran away?” In reply asked Hazrat Raabia Basri, “What have you eaten today?” He replied, “Meat” Hazrat Raabia Basri said, ”Since you eat their meat, so they ran away, I take only dray loaf.”
One day when Hazrat Raabia Basri went to see Hazrat Hasan Basri, he was bitterly weeping in separation of the Lord. So great was the amount of tears that they were flowing down the gutter of his house. Seeing that sight, Hazrat Raabia Basri rebuked Hazrat Hasan Basri thus, “Withhold this display of feelings that thy interior may become full with His love and thy heart be drowned in it, and you may not be able to discover its whereabouts.”
Somebody asked Hazrat Raabia Basri’s hand in marriage. She replied, “He alone is entitled to marry who owns himself and has an existence which is his own. But I am neither the master of my body not of my life. They are the properties of my Lord. Ask Him for my hand (in marriage).
Hazrat Hasan Basri asked Hazrat Raabia Basri how she could attain to tht spiritual greatness. She replied, “I forgot all existence (became non-existent) in His remembrances.”
Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) appeared to Hazrat Raabia Basri in a dream and questioned her if she remembered him as a friend. She replied, “Who does not recognize you as such? But what should I do? The love of the Lord has so filled the pores of my body that no room is lift therein of loving you or hating Satan.”
People asked Hazrat Raabia Basri, “Do you see the Lord Whom you worship?” She replied, “If I do not see Him, I would not worship.”

GHUSL is the Islamic method of washing the body to obtain purification from "Hadathe Akbar" or "Greater Impurity".

HADATHE AKBAR

Hadathe Akbar is caused by the following acts:

1) Discharge of semen accompanied by sexual lust, whether such discharge occurs while sleeping or while awake.

2) Sexual intercourse.

3) Mensus (Haidh).

4) Blood discharge after child birth (Nifaas).If any of the above acts results, one will be in a state of impurity (janaabat). Purification is only possible by the means of Ghusl.

Rules regarding HADATHE AKBAR

In the state of Hadathe Akbar or Janaabat, the following things are prohibited:

1) Salaat.

2) Touching the Holy Quraan.

3) Reciting the Holy Quraan, even without touching it.

4) To enter into a Mosque.

5) To make Tawaaf of the Holy Ka'bah

6) In the state of Haidh, intercourse is not permissible; it is a great sin.

7) It is not permissible to remove, cut or break any nails or hair from any part of the body during the state of impurity.

How to perform GHUSL

The following is the Sunnat method of performing Ghusl:

1) Wash both hands to the wrists. The hands should NOT be dipped into the basin of water for washing. Water should either run from the tap or be poured from a container.

2) The private parts and the surrounding areas must be washed, whether there is impurity or not.

3) Wash the part of the body where there may be some impurity.

4) Make a FULL WUDHU. If Ghusl is being made where the water pools around the feet, then delay washing the feet until the END of the Ghusl.

5) After Wudhu, pour water over the head THREE times.

6) Then, pour water over the right shoulder THREE times.

7) Then, pour water over the left shoulder THREE times. The water should be poured in such a way that the ENTIRE body is thoroughly drenched.

8) If the feet were not washed at the time of Wudhu, then wash them now. While pouring the water, rub well to ensure that no part of the body remains dry.

The FARDH acts of GHUSL

The Ghusl has three compulsory acts and they are as follows:

1) Rinsing the mouth thoroughly, ensuring that the water reaches the back of the throat.

2) Taking water into the nostrils to the limit of the tender or fleshy part of the nose.

3) Drenching the WHOLE body - from head to toe - thoroughly, ensuring that no part of the body is left dry.

If the above points are carried out then the Ghusl is complete and one is purified.Absolute care must be taken to ensure that the Fardh acts are not left out, as the Ghusl will not be valid.

The SUNNAT acts of GHUSL

1) Make niyyat (intention) for Ghusl

2) Wash both hands

3) Wash the private parts

4) Make Wudhu

5) Pour water over head thrice

6) Pour water over right shoulder thrice

7) Pour water over left shoulder thriceThere is great reward in fulfilling the Sunnat acts. The Sunnan acts listed above should not be neglected or left out unnecessarily.

The MAKROOH acts of Ghusl

The factors, which are makrooh in Wudhu, are also makrooh in Ghusl. Other Makrooh factors in Ghusl are:

1) To recite ANY dua during Ghusl

2) To face the Qibla is not good

3) Speaking unnecessarily, while nude.

Some Masaa'il relating to Ghusl.

1) Do NOT face the Qibla when doing Ghusl.

2) Do NOT talk.

3) Make haste in covering the body after Ghusl.

4) Even if a single hair remains dry then the Ghusl is NOT valid

5) If one recalls that a certain part of the body was not washed then they can wash it at that time. There is no need to repeat the Ghusl.

6) Nail varnish, rings and other ornaments must be removed to ensure that the water reaches all places.

7) Any food particle stuck between the teeth MUST be removed BEFORE performing Ghusl.

Remember to cut the nails of the fingers and toes as well as removing any unwanted hair from under the armpits and under the navel. The removal of unwanted hair and nails should preferably be carried out once a week. Care should be taken that if nails/hair are left in excess of 40 days then the person will be guilty of sin.

1. Give 4000 Diner Alms/sacrifice (sadqaa) daily before sleeping.
2. Read whole Qur'aan one time, daily before sleeping.
3. Pay price of Jannah,daily before sleeping.
4. Make a truce/peace between two fighting men, daily before sleeping.
5. Perform a Hajj, daily before sleeping.

Then Ali (razi-Allaho- anho) requested Ya'RasoolAllah(Sal-lal-laaho-Alaih-e-W- sallam).. .!It is very hard to do...how canI'll do all this? Prophet Mohammad (Sal-lal-laaho- Alaih-e-W' sallam)replied:
1. Read "Sura-e-Fatiha" 4 times.....Its equal to sacrificing 4000 diners.
2. Read "Sura-e-Ikhlaas" 3 times....Its equal to reading Qur'aan one time.
3. Read "Durood-e-Ibrahimi" 10 times.....Its equal to paying the price ofJannah.
4. Read "Astagfaar" (Astagfaar =Astag firul'lahaa rabbi min kul'ly zanmbinw'atubu elaihe)10 times.....Its equal to making truce/peace between 2 fighting men.
5. Read "4rth Kalima" 4 times.....Its equal to performing Hajj.

Bismillah al - Rahman al - Rahim

HAZRAT SAIYID HUSAIN RA. was born on 16th November 1916. He was the son-in-law of the Allama Syed Sulaiman Nadvi RA.(d. 1953).His early days were under the supervision of Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Isa Sb.RA. who was the mureed of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi ( d. 1943 ) and was also one of his foremost Khalifa. HAZRAT SAIYID HUSAIN RA. did his FA in Persian (1932-1934) after which he went to Allahabad University from where he completed his B.A & M.A (1935-1938) and then started preparing for I.A.S & PCS examinations. Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Isa Sb.RA. advised him not to apply for IAS as for that he would have to go abroad and better opt for PCS exams as that would be held in India. He also console him that whatever the position you will be getting from I.A.S Allah will give you in PCS. Finally Hazrat Saiyid Husain (R.A) did what his Sheikh had advised and selected in PCS examinations.
He was married in 1941(5th Nov) to the daughter of Hazrat Saiyid Sulaiman Nadvi ra. After the death of Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Isa Sb.RA.( d. 1944 ), he then moved towards Hazrat Shah Wasiullah Sb. (R.A), Khalifa of Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi, for Islah. From whom he received the Khilafat also. Hazrat Shah Wasiullah Sb. (R.A) died in 1964 while he was going for hajj. After his death Hazrat Saiyid Hussain (R.A) got in touch with Hazrat Maseullah Khan Sb. Jalalabadi R.A (d. 1991), Khalifa of Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi. Later on he was rewarded with Khilafat also.

HIJAB (VEIL)

AN ACT OF OBEDIENCE

The hijab is an act of obedience to Allah and to his prophet (pbuh), Allah says in the Qur'an: `It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His messenger have decreed a matter that they should have an option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed in a plain error.' (S33:36).
Allah also said: 'And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc) and not to show off their adornment except what must (ordinarily) appear thereof, that they should draw their veils over their Juyubihinna.'(S24:31).
Juyubihinna: The respected scholars from As-Salaf As-Saleh (righteous predecessors) differed whether the veil cover of the body must include the hands and face or not. Today, respected scholars say that the hands and face must be covered. Other respected scholars say it is preferable for women to cover their whole bodies.

THE HIJAB IS IFFAH (MODESTY)

modesty. Allah says: 'O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested.' (S33:59). In the above Ayaah there is an evidence that the recognition of the apparent beauty of the woman is harmful to her. When the cause of attraction ends, the restriction is removed. This is illustrated in the case of elderly women who may have lost every aspect of attraction. Allah (swt) made it permissible for them to lay aside their outer garments and expose their faces and hands reminding, however, that is still better for them to keep their modesty.

THE HIJAB IS TAHARA (PURITY)

Allah (swt) had shown us the hikma (wisdom) behind the legislation of the hijab: `And when you ask them (the Prophet's wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen, that is purer for your hearts and their hearts.' (S33:53).
The hijab makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and women because it screens against the desire of the heart. Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the prevention of fitna (evil actions is very much manifested. The hijab cuts off the ill thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts:
`Be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner.' (S33:32)

THE HIJAB IS A SHIELD

The prophet (pbuh) said: "Allah, Most High, is Heaven, is Ha'yeii (Bashful), Sit'teer (Shielder). He loves Haya' (Bashfulness) and Sitr (Shielding; Covering)." The Prophet (pbuh) also said: "Any woman who takes off her clothes in other than her husband's house (to show off for unlawful purposes), has broken Allah's shield upon her.

THE HIJAB IS TAQWAH (RIGHTEOUSNESS)

Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: `O children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc) and as an adornment. But the raiment of righteousness, that is better.'(S7:26). The widespread forms of dresses in the world today are mostly for show off and hardly taken as a cover and shield of the woman's body. To the believing women, however the purpose is to safeguard their bodies and cover their private parts as a manifestation of the order of Allah. It is an act of Taqwah (righteousness).

THE HIJAB IS EEMMAN (BELIER OR FAITH)

Allah (swt) did not address His words about the hijab except to the believing women, Al-Mo'minat. In many cases in the Qur'an Allah refers to the "the believing women". Aisha (RA), the wife of the prophet (pbuh), addressed some women from the tribe of Banu Tameem who came to visit her and had light clothes on them, they were improperly dressed: "If indeed you are believing women, then truly this is not the dress of the believing women, and if you are not believing women, then enjoy it."

THE HIJAB IS HAYA' (BASHFULNESS)

There are two authentic hadith which state: "Each religion has a morality and the morality of Islam is haya'" AND "Bashfulness is from belief, and belief is in Al-Jannah (paradise)". The hijab fits the natural bashfulness which is a part of the nature of women.

THE HIJAB IS GHEEERAH

The hijab fits the natural feeling of Gheerah, which is intrinsic in the straight man who does not like people to look at his wife or daughters. Gheerah is a driving emotion that drives the straight man to safeguard women who are related to him from strangers. The straight MUSLIM man has Gheerah for ALL MUSLIM women In response to lust and desire, men look (with desire) at other women while they do not mind that other men do the same to their wives or daughters. The mixing of sexes and absence of hijab destroys the Gheera in men. Islam considers Gheerah an integral part of faith. The dignity of the wife or daughter or any other Muslim woman must be highly respected and defended.

Eating and Drinking Manners in Islam

Wash your hands before taking your meals. It is keeping with the rules of cleanliness and neatness that your mind should be satisfied about the cleanliness of your hands before starting the meal.
Say Bismilla hirrahhama nirrahim' in the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent ; the Most Merciful ', while starting the meal. Remember, the meal which is not consecrated by the Name of Allah is made lawful by the devil for himself.
Do not lean against anything when sitting down for a meal. Sit in a humble position with your knees raised or legs crossed or with one knee prostrate and the other one raised. The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) used to sit for meals. in this posture.
Always eat with your right hand. However, the left hand may be used simultaneously with the right hand, if needed.
Use three fingers while eating. If required, use four fingers except the little finger. Do not put your fingers in the food up to their roots.
Do not take a big morsel, nor a small one. Put the second morsel into your mouth only after swallowing the first one.
Do not wipe your fingers with bread. This is a filthy habit.
Eat out of the plate from the edge which is nearest to you. Do not put your hand in the middle of the plate nor extend your hand to eat from that edge of the plate which is nearer to other diners.
If the morsel drops from your hands pick it up and eat it after cleaning or washing it.
Eat in company. Dining in company promotes cordiality and love and is a source of blessing.
Do not find fault with the food. Leave it if you don't like it.
Do not eat while the food is piping hot or simmering.
Avoid breaking into guffaws or indulging in too much conversation during dinner.
Do not sniff the food needlessly, It is bad habit. Do not often open your mouth so wide during dinner that the other people may see the food you are munching between your teeth, nor should you pick your teeth repeatedly in the course of eating. The other diners will find this habit disgusting.
Sit Down to eat and sit down also while taking a drink of water.
If some soup is left over in the plate, drink it ; otherwise clear the sediments from the plate with a finger and lick the finger.
Do not blow on the articles of food. The breath that we exhale is polluted and poisonous.
Take three breathing pauses while drinking water. By this method you can drink according to your need and get full satisfaction. Beware, drinking all the water three is in the container in one breath may be harmful.
While eating in company pay due regard to the needs of the slow diners as well as those who eat at a rapid pace and rise only when all others have stopped eating.
When you have finishes eating, lick your fingers and then wash your hands.
Do not pick up two pieces or slices at once time while eating fruit.
Do not drink water from the spout of a water pot or a goblet etc. Drink from such a container that you may clearly see the water that you are pouring into your mouth on order that no filth harmful substance goes into your stomach.
Say this prayer at the end of the meal : Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at'amana wa saqana wa ja'alana min-al-Muslimin. "praise be to God Who fed us and gave us drink and made us Muslims."

Giant camel's fossils and the Quran

Swiss researchers have discovered the 100,000-year-old remains of a previously unknown giant camel species in central Syria.
"This is a big discovery, a revolution in science," said Jean-Marie Le Tensorer, a prehistory professor at the University of Basel. "It was not known that the dromedary was present in the Middle East more than 10,000 years ago."
We found the first traces of a big animal in 2003, but we were not sure it was a giant camel," he said. A group of humans apparently killed the camel while it was drinking from a spring, said Professor Tensorer, adding that human remains from the same period were discovered nearby at the once water-rich site.
Now how is this related to ISLAM?Well...anyone over here remembers the story of Prophet Salih(as)and the people of Thalmud as narrated in the QURAN? Does that ring a bell now?
Salih said to his people: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (god) but Him." (11:61)
Salih's people said to him: "O Salih! You have been among us as a figure of good hope and we wished for you to be our chief, till this, new thing which you have brought that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) alone! Do you now forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to monotheism." (11:62 Quran).
"O my people! This she camel of Allah is a sign to you, leave her to feed on Allah's earth, and touch her not with evil lest a near torment will seize you." (11:64 Quran)
To Thamud people We sent their brother Salih. HE said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (god) but Him (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign ( the miracle of the coming out of a huge she camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she camel of Allah is a sign unto you so you leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should size you. Remember when He made you successors after Ad people and gave you habitations in the land, you build for yourselves palaces in plains and carve out homes in\n the mountains. So remember the graces bestowed upon you from Allah, and do not go about making mischief on the earth."\nthe leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you \nbelieve in."\n. So they killed the she camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: "O Salih! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah)." So the earthquakes seized them and they lay dead, prostrate in their homes. Then he (Salih) turned from them, and said: "O my people\n! I have indeed conveyed to you the Message of my Lord, and have give you good advise but you like not good advisers." (7:73-79 Quran) \nAlhamdu lilah.This proves the greatness of the holy Quran n 1 of the verses of Surah Fusilat(Chapter41,Verse 53):-"We will show them(unbelievers) our signs in all the regions of Earth and in their own souls,until they clearly see that this is the Truth"\n\nI ask the unbelievers a question of Surah Rehman Ch:55 "Fa-bi-Ayeen-Aalae-rabi-uka-ma-tukazibaan", which means "Which of the signs of thy Lord will u then deny?".If u still deny Allah`s this sign be ready because hell fire is waitin for you.

He was born on 19 Rabi-al-Anwal 592 Hijri in Herat, Afghanistan.His father was Syed Abul Rahim, was the grand son of Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani and mother, Jamila Khatun, the elder sister of Baba Farid Ganj-e- Shakar.His studies started at home, learnt the Holy Qur'an and some lessons on Arabic and Persian from his father. The mother took special care in his moral and spiritual up bringing. After initial studies at home, he repaired to the care of his maternal uncle "Baba Farid", at Pak-Pattan.His mother left him in the care of his
brother and returned to Harat. She, however, said to her brother on the departure: "My son is extremely shy and quiet; would never say or demand anything. Take care of his food." Baba Farid promised.
Thinking that lest Hazrat Makhdoom should feel shy or cautious, remain hungry sometimes, or that he should get food without asking entrusted him the duty of the distribution of food (Langar) to the people. This was also to train him mentally and practically. He joy-fully accepted the appointment, distributed Lanagr (food) two times a day, in between engaged in prayers, but after the evening prayers he attended to the discourses of Baba Farid. He dispensed with his duties well, did not partake a single morsel form the langar, kept fasts, and
when had nothing to break them in the evenings, would go to the jungle and ate wild berries and fruits.
He did his duties for 12 years. Frequent and continuous fasting made him weak. When his mother came and saw him, she complained to his brother of her son's weakness and alleged that he had kept him hungry. Baba Farid replied: "I appointed him the administration of the langar" Then asked to Sabir: "why did you not eat from it?" Hazrat Makhdoom Sabir replied: "you ordered me to distribute the food and not to partake from it." His reply surprised all. Baba Farid remarked: "He is Sabir (patient). God has not created him to eat." Later the word became a part of his name.
After a long time his mother came from Herat and requested her brother to marry his daughter to her son. Baba Farid replied: "He has nothing to do with marriage. He is lost in meditation and awe-some-ness." The sister said: "This is an excuse since he is an orphan, you decline the request." Baba Farid, upon this, married away his daughter, Khadija, to him. During the night when the bride entered the room, she found him lost in prayers. When finished, he asked who she was. She replied: "your wife!" Hazrat Makhdoom said. "How can I accommodate two in my heart? I have already it to one." As he uttered the words a fire burned the bride to ashes. When attained the outer as well as spiritual knowledge his Teachers, Baba Farid, led him out of his room one day and made him sit in an open place. Hazrat NizamuddinAuliya, who was not bestowed upon the rank of the spiritual heir at that time, attended the ceremony. Baba Farid put a green turban on his head and taught him the secret Ism-e-Azam by blowing into his ear, he became for some while he lost his material senses by that blow.
Later Makhdoom Sabir told Baba Farid that he is willing to go to Delhi, Baba Farid gave hims permission to leave, and said: "My Khilafat Stamp is to Jamal Hanswi (A desciple of Baba Farid), so take the letter of Khilafat & go to him." When Hazrat Sabir reached there, the sun was setting, Hazrat Sabir asked him to stamp his letter of Khilafat. Jamal Hanswi replied: "Now you must be tired, go & take rest, I will stamp your letter in the morning". Hazrat Sabir insisted to stamp the letter right now. (As he was very Jalali in nature). Jamal Hanswi replied: "Now it is dark & there isn't any lamp, so I can't do that now." Hazrat Sabir blew his fingers, and his all five fingers started to burn like a lamp. Jamal Hanswi became angry to see that, and said: "You are showing me your miracle?" He angrily tore the letter of Khilafat of Hazrat Sabir. In reply, Hazrat Sabir tore Jamal Hanswi's praying rug & said: "You tore my letter of Khilafat, I tore your
Qutubiat (Sainthood.)" Jamal Hanswi asked:"Have you tored my Qutubiat (sainthood) Of future or Past?" Hazrat Sabir said: "Future's", Jamal Hanswi replied: "Thank God, Past is saved". Hazrat Sabir then left, and went to the city of Kalayr, which was very congested & large city at that time. On Friday, Hazrat Sabir went to perform the Friday Prayer in the mosque. He went there early, so he sat on the first row. Because his appearance was like poor, with long hair & beard, tored cloths, so every person that came in the mosque, asked him to sit on the row behind, it continued untill whole mosque became full of the people & they cause Hazrat Sabir to sit from outside the mosque. When the Friday Prayer started, Hazrat Sabir turned angry, and said: "O Mosque, why are you still standing? Fall down." The Mosque collapsed, all people inside the mosque died at the moment. Also a disease struck the city & whole city of Kalayr was destroyed.
He stayed on a mound near the ruins of the Kalayr and used to say that loneliness was better than habitation. He was taciturn by nature, and engaged himself whole heartily in prayer and meditation. His awe-some-ness was such as no man could stand to it. He was absorbed beyond description. He stood holding the branch of a goolar tree for 12 years waiting for the revelation of godly presence. The body dried up became thin, and immovable. Only eyes worked until at last he realized the Supreme Being. Baba Farid's inner powers revealed to him Makhdoom Sabir's state, so he asked his all disciples: "Who ever would go to Sabir, I will gave him a gift." One of his disciples "Khawaja Shamsuddin Turk" agreed to go there. Baba Farid directed him not to stand before Hazrat Sabir but serve him form behind his back.(As it would be dangerous to Khwaja Shamsuddin). Khwaja Shamsuddin was a good singer with charming voice, so when he reached to Kalayr, he saw that Hazrat Sabir is in strange condition, movless like a statue, and standing by holding the branch of a tree, and his eyes are up towards the sky. Khwaja Shamsuddin stood on his left side, and start singing some Sufi song in his charming voice. After few moments, Hazrat Sabir came into his senses & said: "Shamsuddin, sit down". Shamsuddin replied: "How could a slave sit when his master is standing". Hazrat Sabir said: "Okay, also let me sit". Because he stood for so many years, so he was unable to sit. Khwaja Shamsuddin helped him to lay down, and then he massaged Hazrat Sabir. Hazrat Sabir asked Khwaja Shamsuddin about Baba Farid, and said: "The Shaikh was nice". When Khwaja Shamsuddin reached back to Pak-Pattan, and told everything about Sabir to Baba Farid. Baba Farid asked him: "Did Sabir asked about me?" Shamsuddin said: "Yes, he said that Shaikh was nice". After listening these
words, Baba Farid became rapture, and said:"Now I've become a Shaikh".
When Khwaja Shamsuddin Turk asked Baba Farid to give him the gift as he promised. Baba Farid replied: "Go to Ali Ahmed Sabir, he will give you the gift". So then Khwaja Shamsuddin left Pak-Pattan, and reached to Kalayr, where he served Hazrat Sabir for some time. Hazrat Sabir taught him & after completing the teachings, Hazrat Sabir told him: "Now you go and join the army, whenever any miracle would occur by you, then be sure that it would be the day of my
death". So Khwaja Shamsuddin left, and joined the army of "Sultan Alauddin Ghauri". After some time The Sultan headed a compaign to attck the state of Chanurgarh, he tried his best but was unable to conquer the fort of the state. So finally he became hopeless & went to Dervishes for seeking their spiritual help to be successful in his campaign. One Darvish told the Sultan that why is he looking for Darvishes here & there, there is one Darvish in his army, and if he would pray, then the Sultan can conquer the fort without wasting time. That Dervish also told the Sultan the signs of the Dervish, that tonight a strong tornado will strike the territory, all of the lamps will be extinguished, but only that Dervish's lamp will remain lighted.
At the midnight the tornado blew up all the lamps, and Khwaja Shamsuddin's lamp was unharmed, at that time he was reading the Holy Qur'an. The Sultan came into his tent, and stood before him like a servant. Khwaja Shamsuddin understood that something is wrong. Sultan asked him to pray for his success, so that the fort would be conquerred, Khwaja Shamsuddin replied: " I'm not a saint, I'm a normal person, how can I do that?" But the Sultan insisted, so finally Khwaja Shamsuddin agreed. but with some conditions that right now the Sultan should accept his resignation, and give him the salary right now, and he will pray after going three miles away from here. The Sultan agreed. So Khwaja Shamsuddin prayed after leaving the place, and on the next morning the Sultan conquerred the fort. Khwaja Shamsuddin remembered the saying of Hazrat Sabir that whenever any miracle would happen by him, it would be the day of death of Hazrat Sabir. So Khwaja Shamsuddin went directly to Kalayr after praying for the Sultan's success.
When Shamsuddin reached to Kalayr, he saw that Hazrat Sabir's dead body is lying on the ground unhurt, and many wild animals and birds are standing around his dead body like his body guard. When Shamsuddin reached near the dead body of Hazrat Sabir, all wild animals & birds left peacefully. Shamsuddin, did his Tajhiz-wa-Takfeen (washing the dead body & burying it). The moment Hazrat Shamsuddin Turk's prayed on 13, Rabi-ul-Awwal 690 Hijri. So it was the date when Hazrat Sabir died. His tomb stands at Kalayr in the district of Saharanpur (India).
Even after his death, people were scared to go to Kalayr. And finally Hazrat Abdul Quddus Gangohi visited his tomb, so later people started to come to Kalayr & to visit his tomb.

There is nothing wrong with earning and accumulating wealth provided that one abstains from extravagance, haraam and all ways and means un-lawful in Islam. Wealth can and should be used constructively for one's own benefit as wed as for the benefit of others and for rendering service to Deen. There are a variety of Deeni activities which require wealth. Therefore, a man of wealth can obtain great thawaub by earning and employing wealth in accordance with the Shari'ah. Aiding the poor and needy, contributing to Deeni projects such as Masajid, Madrassahs, works of Tableegh, etc. are wonderful channels in which to employ wealth and thereby build up one's capital in the Aakkirah.
Hadhrat Abdullah (RadhiyaUaho anho) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said: "The seeking of a halaal earning is the (next) Fardh (duty) after the Fardh (Salat)."—Baihaqqi

Hazrat Abu Saeed (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said: 'An honest and upright trader will be with the Ambiya, Siddiqeen and Shuhadoa (on the Day of Qiyaamah)."—Tirmidhi

Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said: "There was not a Nabi who was not sent as a shepherd." The Ashab asked: "You also tended to sheep?" Rasulullah (SAW) replied: "I tended the goats of the people of Makkah..."—Bukhari

Among the noble ways of earn-ing is farming. Much significance of farming has been mentioned in Ahadith. Hadhrat Anas (RA) narrates that RasuluHah (SAW) said that if any man, animal or bird eats from any tree or farm planted by a Muslim, its owner obtains the thawaab of Sadqah thereby

Ha&at Anas (RA) narrating a lengthy Hadith says that a man from among the Ansaar came to RasuluHah (SAW) and requested something. Rasulullah (SAW) sent someone to bring a mug and a mat from one house. These items RasuluHah (SAW) auctioned among the Ashab. With the money obtained for the items Rasulullah (SAW) bought some food and an axe. Giving these to the Ansaari, Rasulullah (SAW) said: "Go (to the forest), cut wood and see it. This is better for you than begging which will be a blot of disgrace on your face (on the Day of Qiyaamah)."—AbuDawood, Ibn Maajah

Hadhrat Ibn Umar (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said: "Allah Ta'ala loves a Mo'min who engages himself in lawful means of earning .

Extravagance or waste is evil. The Shari 'ah prohibits waste. Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Qur'aan: "Do not waste. Verily, the wasters are the brothers of shaitoan."

Hadhrat Anas Abu Umaamah, Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (RA) and All (RA) narrate that Rasulullah (SAW) said: "Walk along the middle path."

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said:

They will never come back to it unless the arrow comes back to the middle of the bow by itself (i.e. impossible!). The companions asked, "What will their signs be?
". The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Their sign will be the habit of shaving off of their beards".\nSahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.651 Narrated by Abu Said Al Khudri".

A Sermon based on the teachings of Hazrat Thanvi
Allah ta'ala Says: "And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze & guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves whom their hand possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments.

And O ye Believers! Turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain bliss." (The Noble Quran, 24:31)

In Surah Noor, Women have been specially addressed and instructed as to the order of purdah:
"O prophet, tell the Believing Women too ….."
Now decide for yourself whether your name is included in the list of the "Believing Women". Ask yourself Whether even a spark of faith left in your hearts. Ya Allah! Include our name in the list of Momins and Mominaats (Believing and Believing Women). Bless us with your divine guidance so that we can implement the Holy Quran in our daily life.

"Has not the time yet arrived for the believers that their hearts should melt with the remembrance of Allah and should to the truth sent down by him?"

Hazoor-e-Akram has said
"My whole Ummat will be forgiven except whose who commit sins in broad daylight."

"If the whole world is angry, worry not,
Keep the wishes of the Beloved in sight,
Make a decision once and for all,
What actions are good and what aren’t right."

If in order to gain the approbation of Allah Ta’ala you sacrifice all the carnal desires of your Nafs.

An intentional look is a poisoned arrow of Satan. Whenever a person’s gaze falls upon a Na-Mehrum women his fear of Allah Ta’ala he averts his gaze immediately, Allah Ta’ala fills his heart with the sweetness of Emaan.
The person who averts his gaze from looking at a Na-Meharam women , Allah Ta’ala rewards him with such whose joy and richness he feels in his heart.
It is also forbidden to look at the embellished clothes of women. The reason is that because of it lust and lasciviousness are born in the heart of the gazer.
Satan has a deep influence upon three parts of the human body. The eyes, the hearts and private parts of the body. other words, through a gaze lust is born in the human heart and this then leads to moral depravity and wickedness.
An evil is adultery of the eyes.
On the Day of Judgement, every eye will weep with sorrow except the one which protected itself from evil eyes which kept awake in nightly prayers and also the eyes which shed the tiniest tear with fear of Allah Ta weep on the Day of Resurrection.
One day, the wives of Hazoor-e-Akram , Hazrat Umme Salmah and Hazoor- aimoonah were in the presence Hazoor-e-Akram. Suddenly Hazrat Abdullah Bin Umme-Makhtoom arrived. Hazoor-e-Akram asked both his wives observe purdah. Hazrat Umme Salmah observed that the visitor was blind and thus. Could not see them Hazoor answered:
" Are you two devoid of eye sight too? Aren’t you looking at him?"
The external parts of the human body such as the hands, feet, tongue, ears are the perpetrators of various sins. In the same way, the heart commits many sins too. For example, conceit, arrogance, hypocrisy etc. deriving enjoyment by conjuring up picture of Na-Mehrum woman in your imagination is the sin of the heart. Thus you gaze at a woman, both the heart and eyes are guilty of sin.

COMPULSION OF GROWING THE BEARD

The importance of growing a beard according to the Ahaadith of Rasulullah and the teachings of the Fuqahaa (Jurists), and the pious spiritual leaders is recorded herein. It has been explained that the growing of the beard was a Sunnah of Rasulullah . It was also the way and the Sunnah of all other Ambiya A.S. A concise and authentic thesis on re-establishing the Sunnah of Rasulullah and all the prophets of Allah.

In this Hadith Rasulullah has declared the keeping of the beard a fundamental requirement of Islam and has described the shaving of the beard as a symbol of the Majoos (fire worshippers). In a well-known Hadith it is related that 'Whomsoever imitates a people, will be regarded as of them'. That is why Rasulullah has commanded us to oppose the Majoos. It is obvious that the growing of the beard is an Islamic injunction and all the Ambiya A.S without exception are agreed on this, as has been already mentioned in Hadith number one. Therefore those who hold this false notion that it was a custom amongst the Arabs to grow beards therefore
Abu Hurairah reports that Rasulullah said: 'Lengthen your beards and cut your moustaches, and in this matter do not imitate the Jews and Christians'. It is indeed unfortunate that today, by apeing the Christians, we are neglecting and destroying this blessed and very important Sunnat of Rasulullah I recall that during my childhood even the elders among the Hindus were accustomed to having beards.
In another Hadith Said ibn Habib relates that Rasulullah could not bear looking at two emissaries that came from the court of King Kisra, because they had shaven their beards. He told them; 'Be destroyed ! Who has told you to make your appearance like this ? ' They replied: 'Our Lord, Emperor Kisra ordered us'. Rasulullah said: 'But I have been commanded by my Lord, Allah to lengthen the beard and cut the moustache'. Hukmul Lih'ya fill Islam.

FIVE POISONS OF THE HEART

1. Unnecessary Talking
Umar Ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "A person who talks too much is a person who often makes mistakes, and someone who often makes mistakes, often has wrong actions. The Fire has a priority over such a frequent sinner."
2. Unrestrained Glances

It has been related that the Prophet once said words to the effect: "The glance is a poisoned arrow of shaytan. Whoever lowers his gaze for Allah, He will bestow upon him a refreshing sweetness which he will find in his heart on the day that he meets Him.".

3. Too Much Food

Al-Miqdam ibn Ma'd Yakrib said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "The son of Adam fills no vessel more displeasing to Allah than his stomach. A few morsels should be enough for him to preserve his strength. If he must fill it, then he should allow a third for his food, a third for his drink and leave a third empty for easy\nbreathing."

4. Keeping Bad Company

Allah's Apostle said , "The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is I like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows\nwould either burn your clothes or your house, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof."
5. Excessive Sleeping
It is necessary for a person to have a sound sleep for good health and mind. But excessive sleeping causes an adverse impact on person. It has dire consequences on person's RIZQ and BARAKAH. Therefore there is Hadith advising Duas asking refuge from lazy and dull heart and mind.

Allah's Apostle said, "A man used to give loans to the people and used to say to his servant, 'If the debtor is poor, forgive him, so that Allah may forgive us.' So when he met Allah (after his death), Allah forgave him."

Volume 4, Book 56, Number 687:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "A lady was punished because of a cat which she had imprisoned till it died. She entered the (Hell) Fire because of it, for she neither gave it food nor water as she had imprisoned it, nor set it free to eat from the vermin of the earth."

Hazrat Awais Qarni RA

His name was Awais, he was known as Awais Qarni because he lived in a town called "Qarn" in Yemen. Hazrat Owais Qarni was a very pious and noble person. He was a great follower of Islam. He had embraced Islam while the Holy Prophet was still alive. He naturally had a very strong desire to see the Prophet but since his mother was old and she needed his help and care, he could not visit the Holy Prophet. As a reward of his service to his mother, he was treated as a Sahabi (Companion of Prophet) by the Prophet even though he could not see him personally. His name entered the list of Sahaba only because of his strong intention to see the Holy Prophet.
Once the Companions asked the Holy Prophet: "Has Hazrat Awais Qarni ever visited you? The Holy Prophet replied: "No, He never watched me physically, but spiritually he met me." Sufism is based on the spiritual connection or link that was between the Holy Prophet & Hazrat Awais Qarni, in Sufism that spiritual connection is known as "Nisbat-e-Awaisiya".
When Hazrat Awais Qarni received a message about the Holy Prophet Mohammed, that he had lost a tooth in the battle of "Uhud", Hazrat Awais Qarni pulled one of his own out (because of his love towards the Holy Prophet). Thinking that he might not have pulled out the right tooth, and because he loved the Holy Prophet more than he loved himself, he pulled out all of his teeth to make sure that he had lost the same tooth as the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
During his last days, the Holy Prophet asked Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali to take his shirt (Jubba Mubarak) to Hazrat Awais and ask him to pray for the forgiveness of my followers (Ummah). The reason for this was to show his companions the very high status of Hazrat Awais. Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali asked the people if there was anyone from Qarn. One man came forward and told them how to find the place. They set out for Qarn. When they arrived, they asked the people where Awais was. The villagers answered their questions, but were very surprised to see the two prominent Companions asking for an unknown camel shepherd. When Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali reached to him, they saw Hazrat Awais saying his prayers. As he finished his prayers, he said, "It is the first time anyone has ever seen me praying. The two men passed on to him Holy Prophet Mohammed’s message asking Awais to pray for the forgiveness of the followers of Mohammed. This he did. After a while he said, "Allah has forgiven and rewarded as many of Mohammed’s followers as the hair of the sheeps of the Rabia and Mazhar tribes. They asked Hazrat Awais, "If you loved Mohammed so much, why didn’t you visit him more often during his life time?" He did not answer, but asked if they took part in the battle of Uhad? And if so, which tooth had Mohammed lost there? Hazrat Umar was greatly impressed by this simple person and asked Hazrat Awais to pray for him. Hazrat Awais replied, "I pray for the forgiveness of everyone at the end of every prayer. If you keep your faith in Allah and His Messenger Mohammed, you will receive my prayers in your graves."
Many times in the company of his followers, the Holy Prophet stated: "I can smell the beauty of my fried from the land of Yemen'". This statement is in direct reference to the spiritual greatness of Hazrat Awais. The prophet also said: "I feel a sweet, peaceful breeze (naseem-e-rehmat) from Yemen".
Hazrat Umar quotes the Prophet as saying "Oh! Umar. From Yemen a man will arrive whose name is Awais and he has signs of Leprosy on his body, he cares for his old and frail mother. If for anything, he takes an oath in the name of Allah, Allah will fulfill his oath. If you can ask from him prayers for your own forgiveness, then you must do so." Hazrat Ibn-e-Sa'd quotes the Holy Prophet as saying "In my ummah (followers) I have a friend whose name is Awais Qarni".

Prophet's (saw) Last Sermon.

Date delivered: 632 A.C., 9th day of Dhul al Hijjah, 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat.

After praising, and thanking God, he said: "O People, listen well to my words, for I do not know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (riba), therefore all riba obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital , however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. God has judged that there shall be no riba and that all the riba due to `Abbas ibn `Abd al Muttalib shall henceforth be waived. Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabi`ah ibn al Harith ibn `Abd al Muttalib. O Men, the Unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calendar in order to make permissible that which God forbade, and to forbid that which God has made permissible. With God the months are twelve in number. Four of them are sacred, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Sha`ban. Beware of the devil, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain rights over your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. It is your right and they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste... O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God (The One Creator of the Universe), perform your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your financial obligation (zakah) of your wealth. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before God (The Creator) and you will answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, NO PROPHET OR MESSENGER WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I am leaving you with the Book of God (the QUR'AN*) and my SUNNAH (the life style and the behavioral mode of the Prophet), if you follow them you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people. *The Qur'an: Revealed to Prophet Muhammad during the period from 610-632 AC. The first five verses revealed are: (1) Read in the name of your Lord, Who created. (2) Created man out of a clot that clings (in the womb). (3) Read and your Lord is the Most Bountiful. (4) Who taught by the pen. (5) Taught man that which he knew not.The Last Sermon Confirms the Main Points from the Qur'an:"Oh Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, news bearer and a warner and as someone who invites people to God by His permission and a shining Lamp" (Al-Qur'an 33:45-46). Prophet Muhanimad who was sent to mankind as a news bearer and a wamer for he spoke the truth and did not invent something of his own. The purpose of this article is to confirm the statements made by Prophet Muhammad during his farewell address during the last pilgrimage (10 AH). After praising and thanking God, the Messenger said, "Oh people, listen to my words carefully for I know not whether I will meet you on such an occasion again." TRUST AND ACCOUNTABILITY Sermon: "Oh people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Remember that you will indeed appear before God and answer for your actions." "If anyone killed a person unless it is for a murder or spreading mischief on earth it would be as it he killed the whole mankind, and if anyone who saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of whole mankind" (5:32). "Then on that day not a soul will be wronged in the least and you shall but be prepaid in the needs of your past deeds" (Al-Qur'an 36:54). FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS Sermon: "Return the things kept with you as trust (amanah) to their rightful owners." "If one of you entrusts (something) the one who has been entrusted with it should hand over his security and he should heed God and not hide any testimony. Anyone who hides it-has a sinfull heart" (Al-Qur'an 2:283). INTEREST (RIBAH) Sermon: "All dues of interest shall stand cancelled and you will have only your capital back. Allah has forbidden interest, and I cancel the dues of interest payable to may uncle Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib." "You who believe fear God and write off anything that remains outstanding from lending at interest if you are (true) God and His Messenger If you repent you may retail your principal do not wrong and you will not be wronged" (Al-Qur'an 2:278). TREATMENT OF WIFE (SPOUSE) Sermon: "Oh people, your wives have a certain right over you and you have a certain right over them. Treat them well and be kind to them for they are your committed partners and commited helpers. "Provide for them the rich according to his income and the poor according to his means, a provision according to the custom. This is an obligation for those who act kindly" (Al-Qur'an 2:236)."Treat them politely even if you dislike them,. Perhaps you dislike something in which God has placed much good" (Al-Qur'an 4:19). WARNING ABOUT SATAN Sermon: "Beware of Satan, he is desperate to divert you from the worship of God so beware of him in matters of your way of life." "Verily Satan is an enemy to you so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his followers that they may become companions of the blazing fire" (Al-Qur'an 35:6). BROTHERHOOD Sermon: "Oh you people listen carefully. All the believers are brothers. You are not allowed to the things belonging to another Muslim unless he give it to you willingly." "Believers are but brothers so set things right between your brothers and fear God so that you may find mercy" (Al-Qur'an 49: 1 0). SUPERIORITY IS ONLY IN PIETY AND SUBMISSION Sermon: "Oh people, no one is higher than the other unless he is higher in obedience to God. No Arab is superior to a non-Arab except in piety." "The most honored among you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you and God has full knowledge and is will acquainted (with all things)" (Al-Qur'an 49:134)."Who can be better in religion than he who submits his whose self to God, does good and follows the ways of abraham for God did take Abraham for a friend" (Al-Qur'an 4:125). IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL WE MUST OBEY BOTH GOD AND HIS MESSENGER Sermon: "Oh people, reflect on my words. I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my example and if you follow these, you will not fail." "And obey God and the Messenger so that you may receive mercy" (Al-Qur'an 3:132). OBSERVE THE PILLARS OF ISLAM Sermon: "Listen to me carefully. Worship God and offer prescribed prayer, observe fasting in the month of Ramadan and pay the poor-due." Qur'an: "And establish the prescribed prayer, practice regular charity and bow down with those who bow down" (2:43). "Oh you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may learn self-restraint" (2:183).DUTIES REGARDING THOSE WORKING UNDER US Sermon: "Oh people, be mindful of those who work under you. Feed and clothe them as you feed and clothe yourselves." "Act kindly just as God treated you kindly" (Al-Qur'an 28:77). "God has favored some of you over their provisions to those whom their right hand controls so that they become equal (partners) in it. Would they thus disclaim God's favor" (Al-Qur'an 16:71). MUHAMMAD WAS THE LAST PROPHET Sermon: "Oh people, no prophet or messenger will come after me and no new faith will emerge." "Muhammad is not the father of any of you men but he is God's Messenger and the Seal of Prophets. God is aware of everything" (Al-Qur'an 33:40). OUR DUTY IS TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHET (Qur'an) Sermon: "All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again (and people did). "Oh Messenger, communicate whatever has been sent down to you by your Lord. If you do not do so, you will not have conveyed his message" (Al-Qur'an 5:67). Sermon: Have I conveyed the Message of God to you? asked the Prophet facing towards the heavens. The audience answered in one voice, "You have, God is the witness." As the Messenger finished the following revelation came to him, "Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favors upon you and have chosen for you Islam as the way of life for you" (Al-Qur'an 5:3).May Allah (swt) gives us the tawfeeq to act upon this message. :aam:

Acquire knowledge of Deen according to your needs; either by asking the Ulama or by reading a book.
Abstain from all sins.
If you commit any sin, repent immediately.
Do not hold back in fulfilling anyone's right.
Do not cause anyone physical or verbal harm.
Do not speak ill of anyone.
Do not have any love for wealth ,nor any desire for name and fame.
Do not concern yourself with extravagant food and clothing.
If someone rebukes you for your mistake or error, do not try to justify your action.
Do not laugh excessively nor talk excessively.
Do not go about repeating or mentioning an argument that may have taken place between two persons.
Always be mindful of the rules of Shariah in everything you do.
Do not display laziness in executing any act of Ibaadah.
Try and spend most of your time in seclusion.
If you have to meet and converse with others, meet them with humility and do not display your greatness.

Marriage According to Sunnah

The many customs as regards engagement are contrary to the Sunnah. In fact, many are against the Shariah and are regarded sins. A verbal proposal and answer is sufficient.
To unnecessarily delay Nikah of both the boy and the girl after having reached the age of marriage is incorrect.
There is nothing wrong in inviting one's close associates for the occasion of Nikah. However, no special pains should be taken in gathering the people from far off places.
It is appropriate that the bridegroom be a few years older than the bride.
If the father of the girl is an Aalim or pious and capable of performing Nikah, then he should himself solemnise the marriage.
It is better to give the Mahr Faatimi and one should endeavour to do so. But if one does not have the means then there is nothing wrong in giving less.
It is totally un-Islamic for those, who do not possess the means, to incur debts in order to have grandiose weddings.
It is [a] fallacy to think that one's respect will be lost if one does not hold an extravagant wedding and invite many people. What is our respect compared to that of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam)?
The present day practice of the intermingling of sexes is an act of sin and totally against Shariah.
There is nothing such as engagement parties and Mendhi parties in Islam.
Great care must be taken as regards to Salaat on occasions of marriage by all - the bride, the bridegroom and all the participants.
It is un-Islamic to display the bride on stage.
The unnecessary expenses incurred by the bride's family in holding a feast has no basis in Shariah.
For the engaged couple to meet at a public gathering where the boy holds the girl's
hand and slips a ring on her finger is a violation of the Qur'anic law of Hijaab.
It is un-Islamic for the engaged couple to meet each other and also go out together.
Three things should be borne in mind when giving one's daughter gifts and presents at the time of Nikah:
Presents should be given within one's means (it is not permissible to take loans, on interest for such presents);
To give necessary items;
A show should not be made of whatever is given.
It is Sunnat for the bridegroom's family to make Walimah.
Note: In Walimah, whatever is easily available should be fed to the people and care should be taken that there is no extravagance, show and that no debts are incurred in the process.
To delay Nikah after the engagement is un- Islamic.

Wedding of Fatimah (Radi'Allahu Anha) by Moulana M. Saleem Dhorat

When Fatimah (Radi'Allahu Anha) reached the age of fifteen, proposals for her marriage began to come from high and responsible families. But the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) remained irresponsive.

Ali (Radi'Allahu Anhu) went and sold his armour to Uthmaan (Radi'Allahu Anhu) for 480
Dirham and presented it to Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). Bilaal (Radi'Allahu Anhu) was ordered by the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) to bring some perfume and a few other things and Anas (Radi'Allahu Anhu) was sent to call Abu Bakr, Uthmaan, Talhah, Zubayr with some companions from the Ansaar (Radi'Allahu Anhum).

When these men arrived and had taken their seats, the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) recited the Khutbah (sermon) of Nikaah and gave Fatimah (Radi'Allahu Anha) in marriage to Ali (Radi'Allahu Anhu). He announced, "Bear you all witness that I have given my daughter Fatimah in marriage to Ali for 400 Mithqaal of silver and Ali has accepted." He then raised his head and made Dua saying, "O Allah, create love and harmony between these two. Bless them and bestow upon them good children." After the Nikaah, dates were distributed.

When the time came for Fatimah (Radi'Allahu Anha) to go to Ali's (Radi'Allahu Anhu) house, she was sent without any clamour, hue and cry accompanied Umm Ayman (Radi'Allahu Anhu).
After the 'Isha Salaat, the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) went to their house, took
permission and entered. He asked for a basin of water, put his blessed hands into it and
sprinkled it on both Ali (Radi'Allahu Anhu) and Fatimah (Radi'Allahu Anha) and made Dua for them.

DAHEZ E FATIMI
The sovereign of both worlds gave his beloved daughter a silver bracelet, two Yemeni sheets, four mattresses, one blanket, one pillow, one cup, one handgrinding mill, one bedstead, a small water skin and a leather pitcher.

In this simple fashion, the wedding of the daughter of the leader of the worlds was solemnised. In following this Sunnah method, a wedding becomes very simple and easy to fulfill.

Narrated 'Aisha:
That she used to hate that one should keep his hands on his flanks while praying. She said that the Jew used to do so.

Narrated Ibn Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "Your period (i.e. the Muslims' period) in comparison to the periods of the previous nations, is like the period between the 'Asr prayer and sunset. And your example in comparison to the Jews and the Christians is like the example of a person who employed some laborers and asked them, 'Who will work for me till midday for one Qirat each?' The Jews worked for half a day for one Qirat each. The person asked, 'Who will do the work for me from midday to the time of the 'Asr (prayer) for one Qirat each?' The Christians worked from midday till the 'Asr prayer for one Qirat. Then the person asked, 'Who will do the work for me from the 'Asr till sunset for two Qirats each?' " The Prophet added, "It is you (i.e. Muslims) who are doing the work from the Asr till sunset, so you will have a double reward. The Jews and the Christians got angry and said, 'We have done more work but got less wages.' Allah said, 'Have I been unjust to you as regards your rights?' They said, 'No.' So Allah said, 'Then it is My Blessing which I bestow on whomever I like. "

Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "While a dog was going round a well and was about to die of thirst, an Israeli prostitute saw it and took off her shoe and watered it. So Allah forgave her because of that good deed."

Statements of Hazrat Maseehul-Ummat on Tasawwuf and Akhlaq Compiled by Shafeequl-Ummat Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Farouq Sahib (rahmatullahi alay).

) All progress is dependant upon remaining steadfast on the Shariah.
2) The Wealth of Attainment (reaching Allah) is acquired through the Shariah and adherence to the Sunnah.
3) Earning is not your in control, but spending is.
4) Shariat is knowledge. Tareeqat is acting upon that knowledge.
5) Tareeqat actually means practising on the masaa-il of the Shariat.
6) Islaah (spiritual reformation) of the nafs is faraz (Compulsory).
7) The goal and destination of this path of Sulook is the pleasure of Allah.
8) The pleasure of Allah is obtained through following the Shariat.
9) To take bay’at is sunnat.
10) It is compulsory to place oneself into the hands of a (qualified) Shaikh for the rectification of evil deeds
11) Continue to take stock of your actions.
12) Make muraqaba-e-maut (contemplation of death). Compulsory upon yourself.

13) The first step in sulook is to regard yourself as nothing.
14) Bay’at is a sunnat promise. (Bay’at is a sunnat practice through which one pledges and promises to remain steadfast on the teachings and advice enjoined at the time. This was the sunnat promise Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam extracted from the Sahaaba at the time of bay’at is termed a sunnat promise).
15) Success lies in informing the Shaikh of your true condition and then following his instructions.
16) Perfection cannot be attained without the guidance of a teacher.
17) One cannot attain perfection without staying in the company of one who is already perfect.
18) One should not interfere in the diagnosis and prescription of the Shaikh. (For example, if the Shaikh diagnosis jealousy in you and prescribes generosity as the cure, then do not believe that you are free from this disease nor opt for another type of cure. Translator)
19) The company of the pious makes one pious.
20) Congeniality is a pre-requisite for gaining spiritual benefit. (Congeniality or munasabat means the existence of such compatibility between Shaikh and mureed that the latter has no rejection for any word or practice of the Shaik. In fact, he readily accepts every statement and act of his Shaikh. When two persons of a different nature cannot travel in this world together, how can two such people tread the Path of Sulook together? - Trans.)
21) The hearts of pious are illuminated by the noor of Allah Ta’ala.
22) The dua of the Shaikh is through the permission of Allah Ta’ala.
23) The Shaikh’s dua is a sign of the blessing and favour of Allah Ta’ala. (No.23 is an explanation of no 22. The Shaikh’s dua is a sign of the blessing of Allah Ta’ala because such dua is through the permission of Allah Ta’ala, meaning that Allah Ta’ala causes the Shaikh to make dua. When the Shaikh makes dua for you, Allah Ta’ala accepts his dua in your favour and blesses you with the good of this world and the hereafter.)
24) Do not reject any statement of your Shaikh. (If you cannot understand something the Shaikh says then regard your understanding to be deficient and not the explanation of the Shaikh.)
25) Have this belief that the Shaikh’s error is better than your correct action.
26) A sign of compatibility is that the mureed loves all actions of the Shaikh. (This means he does not deliberately reject or object to any action or statement of the Shaikh.)
27) The Shaikh should constantly keep an eye on his mureeds.

The fruit of silence is success. (The moment you utter a statement there is the possibility of it being contrary to the Shariah, such as a lie, gheebat, etc., and there is also the danger of being taken to task for it. On the other hand, if one adopts silence then the possibility of being punished for something that was never said does not exist.)
28) Do not speak excessively.
29) The reality of Mujaahadah is to oppose the nafs.
30) Maintain the habit of opposing the nafs.
31) The necessity of Mujaahadah always exists.
32) Sleep and eat to your fill; decrease speech and association with people.
33) Think before you speak.

The Jews will gather again to live in Bilad Canaan;*
Very tall buildings will be built;*
The disappearance of knowledge and the appearance of ignorance, with much killing;*
Adultery will become widespread, and the drinking of wine will become common;*
The number of men will decrease and the number of women will increase until there are 50 women to be looked after by one man.*
Islam will become worn out like clothes are, until no one will know what fasting, prayer, charity and rituals are;*
Allah will send a disease to fornicators that will have no cure (Aids?);* People will begin to believe in the stars and reject AL QADAR (THE DIVINE DECREE OF DESTINY);*
Men will pass by people's graves and say: "Would that I were in his place"; (large amount of sucidal deaths?)*
The Euphrates will uncover a mountain of gold for which people will fight over (the river of Alfurat that lies near Syria);*
Two large groups of people will fight one another, and there will be many casualties; they will both be following the same religion (World War II?);*
Approximately 30 DAJJALS will appear, each one claiming to be the messenger of ALLAH;*
Earthquakes will increase;*
Time will pass quickly;*
Afflictions will appear;*
Killing will increase;*
Wealth will increase;*
Women will be wearing clothes but not wearing clothes*

THE PROPHET (saw) SAID: "IF MY UMMAH BEARS 15! TRAITS(QUALITIES), TRIBULATION WILL FOLLOW IT." (DAY OF JUDGEMENT) SOMEONE ASKED,"WHAT ARE THEY O MESSENGER OF ALLAH?" HE (saw) SAID:

* When any gain is shared out only among the rich, with no benefit to the poor;*
When a trust becomes a means of making profit ;*
When paying ZAKKAT becomes a burden;*
When voices are raised in the mosque;*
When the leader of a people is the worst of them;*
When people treat a man with respect because what he may do;*

When much wine is drunk; red wind or the earth swallow them, or to be transformed into animals."* 'IMRAN IBN HUSAYN SAID: "THE PROPHET (AS) SAID, 'SOME PEOPLE OFTHIS UMMAH WILL BE SWALLOWED BY THE EARTH, TRANSFORMED INTOANIMALS, AND SOME WILL BE BOMBARDED WITH STONES'. "We heard of fathers' saying "LAILLAHA ILLA ALLAH" so we repeat it)*
The appearance of the MAHDI;*
The appearance of the DAJJAL (Anti Christ);*
The appearance of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (biblical Gog and Magog);*
Isa (Jesus) will come during the time of Dajjal;*
The rising of the sun from the west;*
The destruction of the Ka'ba and the recovery of its treasures;*
The smoke.

Wearing clothes below ankle level
